View Full Version : DIY eyelids
First off i know this isn't to everyone's taste but I thought I'd share my little project so far.
I couldn't find any eyelids how I wanted (matching bonnet line and being straight) so I knocked these up with a little help from a couple of friends.

Looks very good. I'm a big fan of eyelids on ALOT of vehicles, guess I'm a ricer like that. Honestly I'm only worried about the light output now.

Not quite to my taste, but kudos for doing something unique. It will definitely set your car apart.

Sweet. You want to effectively cover up HALF of your available light output with stupid lids. Why not just go kouki if you're looking for something more sleek?
ps, your left side headlight is pushed in and doesn't line up with the hood. Fix that first.

Here's an idea, add metal to the hood to make this shape-
(crappy paint job, but you get the idea)

..lol i still see no point..with those lights aren't you just limiting the amount of light emitted from the bulb ????
Oh no! Lol fail lol omg, I can't believe I overlooked that, your right, what should I do? I could make them out of perspex maybe? That way the light could still get through
nice work man, looks way better than mine
Seeing yours was what made me take the plunge,
I think I might end up trimming them a bit higher yet but I'm not going to be sure until I see them on and painted.
Going to mount them with Velcro joints so I can take them off and on as I please
Got a thin layer of filler on them today and did a tonne of sanding, still more to go to get them nice and smooth.37648
Sprayed one quick because I'm impatient and wanted a guide coat

Decent DIY but the eyelids are too thick..need to be trimmed up and paint matched.

They don't look bad, but to be honest your car looks way a lot better without them. It looks super clean to have them, just my opinion.

I like them. I think the only reason no one has produced them is they kill a lot of the light.
But that doesn't matter since they look cool. Good job Ez. Make a mold and sell them on eBay.

Dude you're an idiot. Nobody cares about your "kouki conversion" tape shit. You aren't the first one to have done this.

Thanks ob.
Going to keep them as one offs though
I don't want my lights to shine through them at all but right now they glow up, there not painted yet but I can't see it stopping the light all together. I'm thinking of lining them with a thin, none light letting through material, foil would work but it's too fragile...

i'm sorry but this is atrocious.
