ok i am puzzled, i have a set of arp head studs for the sr motor red top. i been searching up and down what order and how much torque these things suppose to have. bolts to the bottom part of the block am i suppose to torque them down to 29ft-lbs or torque? reason why i ask is i am using a 3/16 hex socket the only on that seems to fit to tighten the studs and ending up stripping them hex socket and also the hex shape on the end of the stud. any suggestions?

Trq Spec depends on the Stud Model, Old design is 70ftlbs.
Can be ID'd by the top of the Stud only Saying ARP

If you have the newer Stud then the Trq Spec is gonna be higher like 90ftlbs or something.
Can be ID'd as the top of the stud saying ARP 2000 or something

ok cool! i'ma give that a shot tomorrow night. just to double check, the ft-lb is on the nut that is provided ^, is after the head is on right? because i just got to the step where i am putting the studs on the bottom block. and also have to get a new hex shape socket. 3/16 is the right size am i correct if anyone remember.

yes its with the head on,and u only tighten the stud to the block finger tight.
idk ur socket size but i belive ur talking about a 12point socket 3/16th. try sears for the 12point ull have better luck then autozone,ex.

Is your question is how tight do you put studs in the block?? if yes, then its hand tight.

Arp's are three equal steps to 80ft lbs. Make sure you use the lube supplied with the bolts otherwise you'll be breaking shit. Lube the washers and nuts as well as the threads. Put head gasket in place, put RTV where it's needed, then set head on top. Slide bolts into holes and hand tighten into the block. Then torque head using the factory torque sequence for the studs.
