Well today started off nicely. Day at Infineon was alright. Came back from the skid pad hearing some funny noise from my engine. Popped the hood and somehow that plastic fan cover snapped. That was an easy fix...a little duck/duct(sp). Then from making all these turns from side to side knowing my steering wheel is way too close (away from me) to the turn signals and wiper switches....I was turnging the wheel left and apparently my knuckle came down on the turn signal/light switch it F'IN SNAPPED OFF! Now I have to use needle nose plyers to switch my lights on....ugh! :-/

Anyways on my way home, me, jay(Ieatrice), and jerry(heartwork) were on 880. I was getting tired and my eyes kept opening and closing...next thing I know I wake up hearing a smack. Turned out I hit that wall/gaurdrail whatever you want to call it and bounced off going straight. So we pull off and Jay said he saw the whole thing(he was in front of me). He said he saw me swerve all the way to the other lanes and all the cars around me spread out and then I swerved back aiming at the wall diagonally with my driver side corner light head first. Some how I straightend out a bit and just rubbed the wall. Mirror cracked(from the impact), front fender dented/scrapped, door scrapped(part of it down to the metal), and rear 1/4 panal scrapped and dented....Anyways, Ill post some pics up either tonight or tomarrow. I didnt get a chance to get pictures of the scrapped parts because I primered it already to stop from rusting. Now it doesnt look like you can see many dents....

...my life could have been over or I could have seriously gotten injured. I came out with not a scratch on me. Gotta love those angels. :(

:faint: as long as you are ok, cars are just things, plus everyone is entitled to a mistake, so you fell asleep behind the week, look at the brighter side, you wont do this again, right?

good you are ok tho, its all that matters dude :coold:

Glad to hear that you didnt get hurt. Please, if you feel tired, pull over and take a few winks, it could save yours or somebody else's life.

Thanks guys. Yeah well I just didnt think about pulling over because I turned the music up to keep me up and I was wide awake. Next thing I knew I heard a bang and that was it.

Yeah of course. I always learn my lesson. I will pull over next time. The car, I dont really care about. In the future it will get repainted probaly a differnt color along with some other stuff maybe. So I dont really care about the car(actually I do but you know what I mean)...no frame damage so its okay. No one could really tell that I got into an accident when they saw my car. All you can mostly see is just the dark grayish primer.

Sorry to see that Annoying Eric. Glad you werent hurt hopefully and also not your 240.

Thanks Jerry. Yeah its cool dude. I didnt really want to hold you guys up also knowing Jay had a dinner with his girl. So it was just a quick check and chat and we left. Ill try to get pics tomarrow since its kinda late and I dont feel like taking pics now.

edit: black s13, pm me about how much you want for it. I might be able to get one from a friend but we'll see. If not then Ill just get it from you.

Yeah man thanks.. I actually walked out of that and i was fine.. I wasnt wearing my seatbelt either.. i dunno why though. I think i took it off to put my coat on.. The car flipped 1 one time, end over end then rolled twice and landed on the roof and slid a little while... I crawled right out and called my boy who was driving in front of me.. I told the tow truck guy id sue him if he scratched my paint... LOL
But be happy your ok.. Thank god people swerved out of your way....

Does anyone know the secret to staying up while you drive? Even with like 9 hours of sleep the night before.

Sing sing sing sing sing.....LALALALALALALALA!!!! try to drink something with caffine. Row the windows down(sometimes this makes me a little more tired b/c the wind that blows in my eyes make my eyes work harder)hehe.

Yeah if people didnt swerve out or had I spun out....Id be dead meat....

better yet, whenever you feel sleepy and you feel like you can't make it home, either try to find the closest Rest Stop and sleep there, or just pull over and on the side of the road and sleep. I assume that 880 is the interstate right?

Blacking out /sleeping behind the wheels is scary, happened to me a couple time. My friend almost got killed because he fell asleep while driving (3 weeks in the hospital). Glad to see you're alright, and didn't nailed anyone else during your accident.

Driving tired is really dangerous.

I started to drift off once on the highway, and there was some huge construction truck parked on the shoulder. I started drifting towards the shoulder, but luckily woke up and caught myself in time to get back on the road.

Ouch. Good to hear you aren't dead. I guess all that standing around waiting took it's toll. Screw these 50+ driver cone dodging events. I almost fell alseep on 3 separate occasions on the way home as well (arrived home 6am) but I took 3 naps also. What time did you guys leave Infineon Raceway?

dam, I am notorious for swerving around driving late at night.

Sorry to hear about the car. At least you are well to drive another day.

Whenever I'm super sleepy, I exit somewhere, and park, then crash. It's a lot better than risking the drive.

people can be so stupid sometimes.
if you're having trouble staying awake... stop. sleep.
it's not a big deal.
i'd rather be 2 hours late to wherever i was trying to go than not get there at all or fuck up my car because i was trying to make good time.

the longest straight drive i ever made was solo from San Antonio, TX to San Diego, CA. According to Mapquest, it's a venture of these proportions:
Total Est. Time: 19 hours, 52 minutes Total Est. Distance: 1275.72 miles
I left San Antonio at 10AM local time, and made it to San Diego at 3AM PST. That was 19 hours, including all stops. Mapquest doesn't factor in stops, and assumes an average speed of ~65 mph. Yes, I was hauling ass. Yes, I got tired. What did I do when I got tired? I stopped and took an hourlong nap. After that, I was able to make it home without falling asleep @ the wheel.
Don't misunderstand me. I'm not trying to preach or say ootranceformeroo is stupid. I'm saying people are stupid. Hell, I'm stupid. We get behind the wheels of our cars and think we're invincible, and would rather risk ourselves and our cars for the sake of convenience. It's just not worth it.
People are so uptight about stopping for a nap. Leave the car running, crack a window, lock the doors, and set your watch/cellphone to wake you up in an hour. No worries.

Yeah I understand you. Though I wasnt trying to be on time for anything. I just pulled over AFTER it happend and stayed there for a short time b/c a friend had to be somewhere(just to clear that up). Though the drive was only an hour... :( I couldnt make it...wierd...even though Ive drove from the BayArea to Buttonwillow a bunch of times and to the LA area. Anyways. Enough ranting for me.
