I just picked up a car and it came with a power fc on it. Only mods on it are a turbo back exhaust like 2.5 or 3in and an apexi filter/intake thing. Is it worth while to keep the power fc around or just stick a stock ecu in the car for time being? I plan to keep the car relatively stock. Its a black top s13 sr if it makes a difference.

You can tune it and help run the engine more efficiently. A bit more power at the same boost, no knock due to change in octane and even better gas mileage.

if you plan on changing alot of parts, (turbo, injectors etc) install it now, that way you can get alot of the cold start etc issues sorted out before you go and add a bunch of parts. this will make any trouble shooting alot simpler.

You have what used to be considered a goodie! I wouldn't spend the money on tuning it for a stock setup. I would however use it to fund whatever adjacent project, upgrades I was looking into. So the question, is it already tuned?

yes I do believe it is tuned, at what psi though Im not sure. Its got the add on for it to be able to control boost but its not currently in use. I may just have to drag it some where and have them tune it for 13 or 14psi, but I really want to keep it reliable and stock ish, but IDK.

If you have it, it is not worth selling. Apexi Power FC is a great upgrade even if your setup is stock. Yes it will give you better response, yes it will get you better gas mileage, yes it will make your car last longer, but tuning must be performed by a specialist that is certified by Apexi or you are taking a chance with your car.

If your injectors, cams etc are stock, it is still a worthwhile thing to keep. Unlike the stock ECU, the PFC enables your injectors to operate up to 100% duty cycle, and basically offers the best tune possible for a stock SR right out of the box. Another great thing is that you can wire in a Z32 MAFS, select it as your MAFS and it will run perfectly with no adjustment/tuning needed. True you will be able to run a bit more boost, but beware, SR's run inherently lean when you start adding boost to a stock setup (don't let the black smoke fool you lol). Keep your eye on the knock on your monitoring page (if you have the commander)... If your knock regularly goes above 50 or 60, turn the boost down or adjust your gain.

Being able to run your injectors to full capacity is definitely a pro, but also a con... They will wear out faster... But that is relative to tens of thousands of miles... depending on how many miles are already on them.

Bottom line- keep it=)
