Does yours lock the doors when the car turns on/unlocks them when the engine shuts off? Stupid question I know, but Im curious if anyone elses does this. Also is there a thread highlighting the differences between years?

Yup, my first S14 was programmed like this. Keep a wire hanger somewhere outside the car, easily accessible. I've locked my ass out of my car a couple of times because of this shit.
Start the car withe the door open, while working on something. Step out of the car, close the door while forgetting that the lock is engaged and effectively lock your ass out of a running car. Wire hanger to hit the door lock switch to unlock the car. I got pretty damn good at it after a while. That or keep a spare key in your wallet, unless you left your wallet on the center console, which I've done a couple of times too.
