Pardon the silliness that this thread is, but as the SR is new to me, many aspects of it are a mystery. My goal is to simplify and 'tuck' the motor as much as I can with my lack of car knowledge, while retaining reliability. I would like to know what every little thing on the engine does, so I can plug/delete/reroute/leave it accordingly, just as I did with my KA. Thus I made this thread for any dumb questions I may have, instead of cluttering up the forum.
First up, what is #2 in this picture? I was curious and removed the bolt, and coolant poured out everywhere, making a cool green mess. I plan to use an S14 water neck for the turbo coolant return. However, before I procure one, would it be possible to use #2 as the turbo coolant feed, in turn making #1 the return? If so I would prefer it to the S14 water neck, since the lines would be more hidden. Or do both #1 and #2 go to the same gallery and/or flow in the same direction? Please feel free to bash my ignorance, as long as I learn what I would like to know. :)

1. is coolant feed to turbo, 2. is block drain. Same direction.

At the top of the page there's a schematic that might be helpful

Keep #2 blocked, #1 is feed to turbo, you want the coolant turbo return to route around back of the engine to the throttle body area.

Negative, if he's using an S14 water neck, his connection will be from the block, to the turbo and return to the S14 water neck. He'll need to crimp/shut the S13 water line at the back of the engine, thats coming from the heater lines under the intake manifold.

^ True. I disregarded the fact that he wanted to use the s14 water neck. My bad!

Someone could make profit if they produced a simple silicone ∈-shaped hose that would connect these three outlets, eliminating the need to use/mod the stock tubing.

But plenty people do not. :)

My motor came with a turbo oil feed line with the restrictor for ball bearing turbos. What would happen if I used it with a regular journal bearing T25/T28?
Would it be acceptable, or would the turbo not last very long?

Take the restrictor off or drill it out bigger...

Yeah, I hate when people take out the heater. I live where there is winter and want heat, I don't mind ditching the A/C though.
Mate, you could get a metal piece machined/welded the way you like.

The one in my possession looks like this (0.032").
DIF 10016 Turbo Oil Restrictor -3AN to 7/16-24 (.032" Oil Hole Size) (http://www.frsport.com/DIF-10016-Turbo-Oil-Restrictor--3AN-to-7-16-24---032--Oil-Hole-Size-_p_16397.html)
Which of these would be better? The descriptions make it tough to pick.
Unrestricted...
ATP -3AN Oil Inlet Fitting for T25/T28 (http://www.frsport.com/ATP--3AN-Oil-Inlet-Fitting-for-T25-T28-_p_21213.html)
...Or a 0.062" restrictor.
DIF 10017 Turbo Oil Restrictor -3AN to 7/16-24 (.062" Oil Hole Size) (http://www.frsport.com/DIF-10017-Turbo-Oil-Restrictor--3AN-to-7-16-24---062--Oil-Hole-Size-_p_16398.html)
I know the thread pitch is different. I am just using them as examples. :)

Keeping the heater is also good for an emergency in case the car overheats, blasting the heat can momentarily buy you some time.

Question regarding the crankcase vent. Does only air escape out of it, or does it also occasionally/regularly spew out a volatile mixture of oil and fuel and etc.?
