try to make this short....

i used to run a series 2 rb25 on my aem ems. that motor was poopy so i trashed it and rebuilt a new neo rb25 block. its in the car and the wiring harness is the same as before.

now, the trigger wheel in the cam sensor on a factory series 2 rb25 will not work with the ems, so aem made a 24 tooth trigger wheel to replace it. thats what i did.

now on to the issue. the neo rb25 has a different cas and the keyway in the cam is different as well so i HAVE TO use the neo sensor. the new disk is in the neo sensor but the car will get no fuel or spark. if your familiar with the ems, stat sync'd will not show as "ON"....like it did on my old engine.

the neo sensor may be bad but i dont know and dont know how to test it.

this is a bunch of crap nobody wants to read, but if you have any info, or are familiar with the neo or ems, please let me know.

thanks a lot.

Your best bet is to head to the AEM forums if you haven't yet already. The most common thing is not being able to sync, since you got the right trigger disk, must be something simple.

Yea well the trigger wheel actually has a hole for a pin to go through so it's set I the right position. However the neo cas you can put it in at any angle so im stumped. Any way to test a cas out of the car? Thanks

ok hears the deal, the engine runs now but i still have starting problems.

this is a copy/paste of a post i made on aem's site

this is the second rb25 i have had running on this ems and this one is doing the same thing. i thought maybe the starter was going out but it worked just fine with the factor ecu.

i have played with....

staring fuel
the rpm in which "start mode" is on
i have turned crank inject all on and off, no difference
start timing
engine is timed at idle to 10 degrees

the car turns over for a couple seconds and there is either a backfire or a clunk that jars the car a bit and the starter motor quits, then i have to turn the key again. it feels like its firing at the wrong time and forcing against the starter. i either hear a puff through the intake or a loud bang from the exhaust. eventually it does start and runs smoothly.

if any one can help me out or has had similar experience even with a different ecu/engine please let me know. thanks

I've tried start timing anywhere from -5 to 15 degrees what do you think is goin on

have you double checked mechanical timing

what did you end up doing with the CAS? if you messed at all with the trigger wheel, those things are in a certain configuration and diff holes tell the computer where exactly it is in the rotation cycle if not mistaken.

at least thats what is was with my NEO, I ran the engine with no front cover and the trigger wheel contacted the sensor ended up getting fucked. I changed it out with a z32 one and made sure to line up the holes correctly. had to adjust a few times to get it to run right.
