Dont be a fucking tightwad. If you are going to be, dont come on here and ask which piece of shit knockoff product you should buy...

Both coilovers suck, both coilovers are cheaply made. If your trying to be anything more than a hipster, id suggest saving your money and buying a set of decent quality coilovers. Ie. Fortune Auto, PBM, Stance, etc. Hell even buying a set of used Cuscos, JIC, or HKS's would be worlds better than buying Isis or Godspeed products.

I don't think that's the same Godspeed. A buddy of mine had those wheels. I don't know how I feel about them.

And save up another paycheck and buy some decent coils. I really don't understand how you people can't bring yourself to wait 2 extra weeks.

Tein is good stuff too. Put it this way, Chances are, if you spend less then $700 on new coilovers, then you are most likely buying knockoff shit that I wouldnt trust to be a paper weight.

Who cares what we feel man it's YOUR car you decide. What are you going to be doing with it? If it's just DD then do research as to what the best setup would be. Always keep in mind a car build can only end with the car being 2of the following 3
-Cheap
-Reliable
Fast

:tweak:
Your asking about godspeed and isis coils but you say you won't buy a shitty product?

They both aren't good. I've never owned or driven on either one, but I've read all kinds of posts on here complaining about the coils blowing really fast.

Yea they are super super cheap, but they won't last. If your cool with them not lasting, then go ahead.

Some people act like godspeed coils are gods gift to earth, and some act like they're the worst thing in the world, It seems like you never know what you'll get with those.

My take on it is, there's a reason why they're so much cheaper than other coils. They're not the same quality. If your ok with that then it's your choice.

Like everyone else is telling you, save up a couple more weeks, and buy some better coils, and save yourself the hassle. You'll be a lot happier in the end.

Thats got to be one of the dumbest theories ive ever seen.

Just because its a $1000 car, means you shouldnt put quality parts on it?
Safety=Quality parts= $$$ Simple as that

Ughhh... Aren't pbm's like 900? Just get a set of those... Why go with any of those companies? If you don't have the money then don't get a shit product, buy some used good coils I'm sure someone on here is selling some. Yeah they aren't brand new, but still better than those companies, or get some Pbm's they're legit

05-08-2012, 09:21 PM
just get pbm or fortunes dont cheap out on coilovers!

i cheaped out on isis suspension arms isis straight pipe exhaust, i fucked up my apexi exhaust dailying it, it was like an 800 something dollar exhaust when i bought it new, the isis stuff is cheap, alright quality and it works. dont go into debt buying baller shit

LockOn!
05-08-2012, 11:08 PM
Buy something with serviceable parts. Seriously, trust me, I used to buy shitty parts when I was younger. Now I don't. Blowing coilovers and bushings out of arms is not cool at all.

PBM, Stance, Fortune. If anything goes wrong you can get new struts/springs/anything for reasonable prices.

If you blow either of those 2 you want you get to throw them in the trash. Soopur c00l

With what people have said in this thread I really hope you man up and save a bit more cash. Your car in the end though dude.

Honestly if your thinking about buying isis or godspeed's coilovers SHOULD at least just pick up a set of used megans. I'd take megan over isis and godspeed. I've seen a few isis coils completely snap and well remember that when your riding around.

In the defense of Isis coils, while not top notch, they aren't bad for the money. I got a deal on em for $500 through a friend of mine and Im pretty satisfied. And dont forget both they both have warranty's as well. Enjuku (whom they were purchased through) backs all of their products, so you have to think they cant be that bad.

No they cannot compare to stances, or PBMs, or fortunes, or any other brand name coil. But when you're balling on a budget, they aren't a bad choice.

Now because I know its coming...

I had isis full suspension arm kit. Sqreched and made nasty noises at full lock turns and also when you hit bumps. But am i goong to spend a full 2k on suspension arms? Fuck no. PBM coils and isis arms shall be the combo again on my new car. Or MAYBE a full fortune auto set uo if somebody can get me a good price

bought some used JIC's for $550, heck these will probably last longer than any brand new knocks.

the bottom locking perch was seized on but nothing a little WD-40 couldn't loosen up and now i can fully adjust shock body :)

If you're looking to get a good coil setup with good arms, driftworks has a really nice package that includes HSD coilovers, a full driftworks arms kit, and subframe collars. Its about $1700 shipped to the US.
While that may seem pricey initially, considering what you get in the deal its a damn good one

HSD's are the amazing. I had them on my miata and I loved them. 10k with zero problems car sold but was sold with all 4 being good as new.

I was gonna cheap out on coils too. Until i read all the bad reviews on godspeed and ksport. I just threw a couple more bills down and got me a set of Fortunes, they are a good quality coilover.

Even look for a good set here on Zilvia that are used.

About the rims, $249 is extremely expensive for ugly wheels. Rpf1's would be way better than those. Shit ill even go xxr its half the damn price.

Since we are on the subject of coilovers in the $1k range...

I'm looking for DD/occasional abuse coils for a S14.
It seems like stance, fortune and BC racing are the 3 most likely choices. I can find all 4 BC racing ones for about $1300, but all the stance ones I see in that range are just for the fronts from the looks. Also, anything wrong with Tein other than the fact you cant go super low on them? Not my first coilovers, but my first coilovers on a jap car...

Basically, which ones have the best ride quality for DD on shitty roads? Not going to slam the shit out of it, and I believe all of them are rebuildable right?

And I dont want to deal with the headaches I did with KYB's on a cougar. After 4 test fits, ended up using the shock/sleeve meant for a fox body mustang, honda coil springs (because they were shorter and stiffer than the mustang ones, and car had 2 sets of springs), with BBK lowering springs from a fox mustang...

Are you 100% sure those are brand name coils? I have 2 sets of Stances... I would not call stance a brand name, just a high quality replica part produced by a company who not only copies amazing products but puts R&D into their copies.

Legoctf
05-09-2012, 01:17 AM
I would definitely call stance a brand name, they make some very high end stuff. Their entry level coils aren't the best but still very good. Their top of the line coils are what truly shine, but those are for people with extremely deep pockets and high end cars.

A lot of what people determine down to if a certain coilover is good or not is the experience they have with them (obviously) however, everyone's experience is different (once again, obviously) but this is so because everyone runs a different setup, installs them differently, uses them differently and all kinds of other variables, Its hard to make a concrete judge of what is truly good and what isn't.

I'll bet anything that Tuerck wouldn't run these parts on his competition car.

Do the parts work? Yes
Do they work well? No
I wouldn't put these parts on my car if I drive it on the road. That's just me.

Then again, I'm not a broke asshole.
