Hi, I have a 91' ka24de-t. Port and polish on the head, stock cams, eagle rods, 9.0:1 cp pistons, arp hardware where it matters etc.

What a/r size i should choose when looking at the garrett "disco potato" turbo? Im now looking at 0.86 a/r or 0.64 a/r.

Car is used for drifting. Im thinking the 0.86 because its a 2.4l vs the sr 2.0l. I had a s15 type r sr turbo on before, not my favorite since it was designed to cope with the smaller displacement engine.

Thoughts?

Out of curiosity what're your horsepower goals?

0.64

Since your looking to make power earlier in the rpm range.

over 300. Would the smaller a/r limit me at the top end?

Ka's don't have topend anyways lol. You'll be happy with the smaller housing.

Go with the .86 housing, you really won't notice the faster spool over the .64 and you will choke out the disco at higher revs with the .64.

If you hated the S15 turbo, why go with a smaller AR 2860R? If I were you, I'd go 2871R. If its good for the SR, itll even be better for the KA-T.

Totally agreed...I missed that part altogether somehow

2871r (and truthfully a 28RS wouldn't be a bad choice though) would rock on a 2.4.

Question now is, with the bigger displacement and more exhaust flow...would a .86 be better suited on a KA over the .64? Figured a .86 would probably be fully spooled on a KA before 4k, compared to about 4.2k on an SR.

FWIW on my CA18det i run a.64 and its super responsive but then again you have a bigger motor. i would probably have to agree with the 2871r. i was gonna go that route but decided against it since i mainly drive the car on the street for fun.

Trying to give him the best of both world's, I suggested the 2871.64. I've tuned both 86 & 64 on ka's and that's why. He's gonna make his goal, and he'll be able to out drift his buddies, with sr's..; )

'hater'

:P Just teasing ya, I hate that word.

If I had to redo an Altima, and returbo it (yes I did own a turbo Altima almost ten years ago), I'd love to do a 28RS or a 2871r on it:D
