:x:

Here we go guys, here's the information for the Grant Ranch Meet. The first one didn't have a huge turn out but I think it went well and I think we can make this one go a lot better.

Sunday, February 15, 2004, at 12:00 p.m. (noon).

Address: 3457 McKee Road, San Jose, California 95127

We will meet up in the parking lot at 12:00 p.m. There is an 8 Mile drive to the park. The drive is all turns so it does get pretty fun.

The first group of people will be leaving the parking lot at 12:15. The second group at 12:30. The groups will be no larger than 15 cars at a time. And we will shorten the time in between depending how many people show up. We want to have everyone at the park by 1:00 p.m.

It would be kewl if people could bring stuff, like drinks, meet, buns, chips, or other stuff for the BBQ. If you don't wanna bring stuff, help will be greatly appreciated. Also, there might be a parking fee of $2. There wasn't last time and I will go on Sunday and find out if there is going to be a fee this time, so that way you won't be suprised, but $2 bucks isn't anything.

Other than that guys. Lets do this and lets get a great turn out for this one. :rl:

I posted this on Club 4AG. I'm not registered to any RX7 forums but if you guys want, go ahead and post it on one of them. Hopefully this all goes good and everyone has a good time.

Please tell me if people are gonna be bringing stuff or you perfer for me to buy everything and people just help out at Grant Ranch.

Also, Who's Comming.

I really do want to invite the RX7 guys and the Z guys, but like i said I'm not registered at any of the forums besides Zilvia and Club 4AG. So if anyone is they can go ahead and copy and past.

Well if i cant find a used one then, imma have to have it rebuilt. The only thing that sucks is that imma only need the damn thing for bout....6-8 months till i go SR. Im trying not to drop any more money on this damn KA. If i get this damn thing rebuilt then imma HAVE to try to sell the setup when im done with it jes to get some of the money back. I was jes gonna give the damn thing away...

Just bring what you want or what you can. I'm buying some hamburgers and hot dogs, someone said they where bring mexican steaks. If only the peeps that have responded are showing up that's about 40 to 50 cars between the 2 forums. Unless the food really isn't that important, this is what I sugguest.
Let everyone know

This is what will be needed:

Briquets - Lighter fluid
Tongs & Burger Flippers
Squirt bottle (for flare-ups)
Foil (to keep warm and cover leftovers)
hotdogs & buns
Hamburger patties & buns
Ketchup & mustard
Chips, pretzels, cheetos, etc....
Cups & napkins
Paperplates (I will bring 100)
Spoons, forks, and knives
Sodas
ice
etc........

Anyone with an ice chest try to bring it.

Have everyone volunteer to bring something off of the list and that you are counting on them to bring that item. If they would rather donate $ to let you know. As people volunteer they can see what needs to be brought and what doesn't. It sounds like it won't be to convienent to run to the store otherwise. Just a suggestion.

Sounds like a good idea, but like my good friend Edwin always says, it's not how you stand by your car...
So how will people know who I am when I'm not posing by my car? Maybe we should wear nametags... :D :loco:

BTW Westborough, how do you like that Autopower cage?
I've been thinking about getting one, depending on if I can decide which part of the car to do next... :ughd:

Hey nightwalker, I was wondering what kind of settings on the HEs you run for highway driving? I've been on 6 from the hardest and it's great for in-city, but kinda sucks ass for the highway. Just wondering how yours are set. :)

I have mine set at 5 clicks counter-clockwise from the hardest in the front, and 6 clicks counter-clockwise from hardest in the rear. It's a nice ride with some stiffness, but not harsh. I have the rear of my car gutted so you might want to take that into consideration. My cousin's car which has full interior is set 4 clicks counter-clockwise in the rear. The weight makes a difference. You can go one click or so more all around for a softer ride, but not too much because it starts feeling underdampened.

i've been reading that they are the best in the bay area

i just got my ride and it came with HE's - i adjusted mine, its 6/6 F/R i think from hardest - and it sucks for city and highway driving

is there any danger in setting it softer??? my car is lowered like 2 inches i believe, so take that into consideration

OK, so I might get blasted for this one. However, I am wondering what this scene is really going to be like. I am 32, have a wife, 2 kids and one on the way. I love my car but I love my fam more. Is there a possibility of violence or will people be cool. I am new to the area, and am just lookin for some guys with the same passion to hang and talk with. I would like to bring the fam as they are into the cars as well.

There's really like 24 steps, but you should never go past 16 steps starting from the hardest (full clockwise), doing so is not good for the coilovers. So as long as you stay within the last 16 steps you'll be fine.

I'm with you man, I don't have a wife or kids to bring but if the shit start's hitting the fan I'm gone. I'm not driving an hour and a half to brawl with some Supra guys for no reason, I'm just going to hang out, meet some people, eat some food, and whatever else is planned...

Fun event... It was nice to meet everybody, grab some food, and just hang out and have a good time.

The drive from McKee to the park wasn't too bad, I didn't soften the damping in the front enough and understeered around a semi-bumpy turn and dropped the bumper off the road and busted the front lip a bit. Luckily I brought zip-ties :D After turning the fronts down some more though the drive back was sweeeeet!! :naughtyd:

nice to meet you too Salty. You've inspired me to buy some decent wheels for my ride. I have 12 different wheels, but they are no where as nice as yours (probably because they're all curbed and scratched). Would of tried to chase your a$$ down the mountain, but my car was not in shape to be doing any kind of handling. Glad I made it home without popping that tire *sigh of relief* Also wanted to say that your car looks nice going down the freeway, doing what I call >the race car bounce< SWEET!!! wish my car bounced nice and smooth like that, must be the suspension ;)

homeboy that hooked me up with the jack, are you on Zilvia? I'm the guy with the really worn out front tire. THANKS a MILL for helping me out!!!

On the way back had a little Initial D action going on with someone in a red Hachi-roku... damn corners, no where to boost! ;)

Major props to the driver, not once did I look back and not see him in my rear view. I couldn't concentrate on the road, lots of pressure having someone tail you the whole time you are trying to pull away. :)

That'd be me.

that was probably my friend rossi.. lol he said you were boosting hella hard on the straights but his 20 valve was keeping up...those turns can be intimidating for s13's--> mad understeer while the corollas showed some oversteer and as usual, endless front traction..i'm gonna buy one today.

20 valve? Pretty nice! My suspension was bottoming out on the corners, road definitely too bumpy and some understeer too. I gave up in the end, I kept pushing harder on each corner and I didn't want to end up going off a cliff or something. Was definitely fun though. :)

GeeThreeFive
02-16-2004, 10:30 PM
I left right after the fire trucks went up the hill, and they were in front of me going down. So they didn't stay very long wherever they went.
Why has David been so quiet, he hasn't said anything? His brother went to the store for ketchup and mustard, but everyone left before he got back.
Oh yeah, I counted 80 cars while everyone was up at the bbq. I don't know how many left before that. Did anyone not come in the gates because of the cop?

Andrew Bohan
02-16-2004, 11:09 PM
what the hell was up with that sheriff anyway? we're paying $4 to get in, and he's checking id's and giving out tickets and warnings? gee, thanks.

if there were 80 cars there, that's $320 we gave them just to get in. they don't need to be handing out tickets too.

if i'd gotten a ticket i woulda just left.

Okay, someone asked why I'm so quiet. For those who don't know I'm the one that organized this entire thing.

Nobody new about the Sheriff, apparently he saw the line of cars coming up and decided the check it out. Yeah, I got pretty steamed about that.

Second thing. They told me when I reservedt he spot and paid the 135 bucks that parking was only going to be $2 dollars not $4. I don't know why they changed it on us.

Third thing. Final Count was 97 Cars before linda's Count. And 15 more cars after Linda left. So that makes the meet haveing a total of 112 people showing up. That's a great turn out.

Third, the drive after the event had to be canceled, seeings how people decided it would be smart to Drag Race right outside the front gates. Where the Rangers post was. The rangers came to talk to me cause I'm the one that reserved the space. They are now gonna be on look out for a few weeks with Radar guns. DID EVERYONE NOT CATCH THE FACT THAT IN SANTA CLARA COUNTY THE RANGERS ARE SHERIFFS. THEY ARE ACTUAL SHERIFFS. They can give you a ticket and arrest you even outside the park.

Besides this, it was actaully a really kewl meet, I'm glad that so many people showed. I'll let you guys know if there will be another one and when it will be held.

112 cars give or take a few is a sweet turn out for a meet, and it was pitch black out before everyone finally cleared out. Some of us headed over to my house afterwards to have a couple of drinks, smoke a bit, and sit around a fire.

So for me this meet didn't end till about 11:00 p.m.

gotta say.....the meet was pretty awesome. Food was good as well. It was pretty funny seeing a bunch of people gather around the BBQ pit waiting for the burger patties...LOL. The turnout was great. Pretty cool to see that many cars in one parking lot (exept for the civic owners and their BIG egos). :rl: The drive up to the ranch was fun. Going back down on the other hand was..........What was up with all fire vehicles? And thanks to s13chica for lending me 2 bucks for the parking fee. Hopefully the next meet will be as great as this.

David, did you have to pay the $135 out of your own pocket? If you did that doesn't seem fair. Next time let us know what you need to help out. With all those cars there if everyone would have pitch in $2 it would have paid for the reserved area and some of the food.
I didn't know anything about the problems you had, when I left everything had went great.

Hey Linda,

It's not a problem. I didn't have a problem until the rangers showed up to chew me out about the idiots drag racing in front of the station. Over all the meet went as I expected.

I'm sorry for the delay with the food, when I got out of the grocery store there where more people at the SaveMart so I had to stick around and wait for them. No biggie though.

And for those that care, I got my car working the next morning. It wasn't the blow off valve. One of the vacumm lines fell off and I didn't notice it before the meet so I had to leave my car home.

I don't think so, the fire trucks just put thier sirens on beacause the roads are so small, that's what I've heard. I wasn't the last one out of there, but everyone's okay, I'm sure we'd hear about it if someone did.

Andrew Bohan
02-21-2004, 03:17 AM
i went to the top of mt hamilton after i left, and on the way up i passed some of the firetrucks on their way down. i had to pull way over to the shoulder (if there even was one) and stop and wait for em, and they still had to go super slow to get by me.

it's a good view from the top. if you've never been up there i'd recommend it. you can see SF on a good day. i could see SJ and (i think) gilroy and it was cloudy as hell that day
