i don't think it's worth the effort. why not just go to the nissan dealership, and get a shiftknob? they are all of about 50 bux i think. they have all kinds of styles to fit your tastes. I have the trust one myself. feels almost like my skunk2 knob on my integra.

I used a skateboard wheel as a shiftknob and it was badass, Everyone was like why the hell did you do that lol.

yeah, the trust knob is nice. it would be fun make my own knob for kicks. also, because i can't afford 50+ bucks for a knob. (the one i have now is stripped and spins around)

matlock: whoa! skateboard wheel! haha that's a good idea.

also went to junkyards for a knob... got one off of a nissan truck. the threading on the knob was not the right lenght so it ended up screwed on backwards.

try pepboys then, i'm sure they have some affordable shiftknobs, like the stock looking ones then if you just need a shift knob.

***in 92 my friends made some out of pool balls. pretty easy.

Golf ball shift knob?..You could try it, but I think you will find that it is too small.
i want a dildo shift knob...have you taken a look at the factory shift knob on a 240 (S14 anyway). That's why I removed mine. First I bought one of those pep boys shift knobs (yeah, I know ricey). It was so weak, that I couldnt pull into some gears. My next attempt was to use an instrument knob (1.5" dia drill press knob). It was too small, I ended up trying to grab it with thumb and forefinger...that sucked. Attached is my most recent shift knob:
Yeah its carved from wood, but its ergonimic, strong, and short (the shift rod is only 1/16" from the top surface. It has since been re-painted, damn polyurethane clear orange peeled like a biznich, then wet sanded too far. Try a billard ball, ok so it's old-school, it will be a more comfortable size than a golf ball.

just buy a real shift knob instead of making your own... your obiously not serious about shfting... just trade your car for an automatic so you dont have to worry about what shift knob to get.

A friend of mine had a hand-carved mahogony RAZORBACK as his shift knob. Very sweet.

By the way, the University of Arkansas (where I got my degree) has the Razorback as its mascott. GO HOGS!! SOOOOOIE! :p

Seriously, though, it was a real nice shift knob. an s-10 with a v-8 that he ended up blowing up. Was on the drag strip, missed second gear with no rev-limiter = BOOOOM. It was NOT a pretty sight.

I used to rock the real 8 ball shifter on my talon...between that and the fuzzy dice, i could tell the ricers down town it was a hot rod and they'd never know any better

Anyways, best ideas for shift knobs? I liked the cobra head from "viva la bam" that they put in his mom's pt cruiser, and i thought a big B&M or Hurst T-handle would really accent the japanese style (SHIFT_sarchasm)...
