SO, I keep having this problem with my dual cam. The car wont let me rev past 3500rpm sometimes 4000rpm and when i give the engine full throttle it sounds like its retarding timing and backfires from intake and exhaust. I have replace my MAF twice with autozone remans and the problem keeps accuring with the car not reving past 4000rpms and the car sounds like its retarding timing when i give the car full throttle. I check the codes on the ecu and the same codes keep coming up. MAF and Igintion signal primary. I dont know what else to do. I dont know if this could be a problem but the maf is a 93 nissan altima reman MAF.

mine just did the same but it smoothed out at higher rpm. Check injectors or the rotor and cap. Hopefully its the cheaper type of propblem. Good luck bud.

is it the single cam? if so not a lot of knowlege. but i would check the injectors to see if its cutting out there clogged maybe a vacum leak somewhere i also had that. just remember its over 20 yrs old. hopefully someone with a little more knowledge will step in on this one!

I solved my problem on friday. It ended up being my walbro 255 fuel pump was burning out due to loose rust being in the tank and clogging up the fuel pump strainer and my fuel pressure regulator was weak. I reccomend anyone who has the issue with the engine not revving past 4000rpm i would check your fuel system before moving onto anything else. The engine revs to the moon with no hesitations.
