No Spark to My Engine

I own a 89 240sx and last week my SOHC engine went to shit on me and i figured rather than try and fix that hunk of junk i would go ahead and get a DOHC and put it in. So i got the engine and swaped them out. It took some work but i got it done with some help from my pals. When we got the engine in and it turns over but it wouldnt start. I checked for spark from the #1 wire but we got nothing. So then we checked for spark from the coil and still got nothing. I dont know what the hell to do. I know in time i will be able to find out but if you have any help please pm or e-mail me. Thanks

check and see if your coil is getting signal (instructions in the FSM can be downloaded in tech secition of this site) if it is all ok on that end then you have a bad coil

afterthought: did you put a new cap and rotor when you put in the motor?
