97-98 Cold Air intake on 95-96 ??

I thought these would be interchangable...why arent they? or ARE they?

I have the injen intake and it was on my 97 240 then i switched it to my 96 240sx and it fits perfectly. The only difference is the nipple that connects to the tempature sensor. I just taped the temp. sensor onto the nipple and its working great.
