Im 17 and is my first car I am really into drifting but over here where im at there arent many rear wheel drive cars that arent expensive
first of all the car is automatic i know that stick cars are better and i would actually prefer one but o well
-Can i drift with an automatic car?
-when i turn on the engine it starts to make a noise like a piece of metal is hitting another inside the cylinder head and one time I took a spark plug out and it came out full of oil but only the first one the other three were clean
-what do you guys think the problem is in the engine?

I usually help anybody but this made me laugh. Idk where to start. About drifting with a auto, won't be easy but possible. Your engine....sounds broke lol

It sounds like your motor is blown and do a manual swap... Auto generates to much heat

he is 17. i don`t know how mechanically inclined you are, but i would start by removing the valve cover and check valve lash adjustment, use a flashlight to inspect the timing chain and the guides.

Being as to how you said it sounds like something is banging around in the head....I wouldn't start the car unless absolutely necessary... the last thing any of us needs is loose metal bouncing around inside a running engine. As for the cylinder, I know you said its oil bit are you sure its not flooding out with fuel as well?

I recommend learning about the car and the sport first. When I was 15 I was into drifting as well even though I didnt have a car, I would still go to the events in my area and talk to people and watch them. Learned as much as I could about the sport at the time and did a loooooot of research into the cars and issues mainly. Finally bought a 240sx, built it, then sold it when it was finished because of money issues.... lol.
Learn about your car first, then after you understand the basics and can do you're own work on it, then worry about the drifting. It will make more sense on what you can and cannot do as well as should or should not do.

yo bro save up and get a sr20 dropout especially if your motor is toast. start with gathering 5spd swap parts. if your chassis is clean keep it. start a build!

Upper KA24DE timing cover can be removed
The drive side upper timing guide can also be removed
..also, stop saying that you are 'really into drifting'. Because we can tell that you are not. Its ok to admit you have seen a lot of cool videos on the internet and would like to try it out, but don't try to fool anyone that its something you are 'into'. I would also avoid drifting a daily driver. If you can't afford to crash, then drifting isn't for you.
also, change all 4 spark plugs with new ones, and keep an eye on them.

Sounds like a kid who at least didn't have a parent help me buy a car.
My dad may pissed me off, but he hella know what to look and inspect when it comes to sub $3000 cars.
