what is an advantage of multi--piece forged rims? this guy keeps telling me "get multi peice forged rims, or throw them away". what is so different of them and normal wheels?

Strength, forged anything is stronger than cast.

not that often, but if you do any sort of competion driving forged rims help. Forces exerted on the rims may cause the spokes to bend.

Forged will almost always be lighter which = less unsprung weight. Multi piece are easy to repair if the lip is bent or anything like that, they also tend to be lighter than cast. Last but not least, they are sexy with big fat lips
