RB into s-chassis Motor Mounts

okay, i'm trying to swap an rb20 into my 95 s14. I see so many different mounts online and other custom fabbed mounts. I want some feedback for whats the best route to go. I know mckinney makes a good set for around 250, but is there a cheaper or better solution out there?

Are you planning on keeping the motor stock if so then the McKinney mounts are cool... But if you apply more power they WILL break!

Its my dd while i'm in school, so it'll stay pretty much as is stock. What about the $200 mounts i see on ebay? are they worth the shot ?

No they are trash... You get what you pay for... In my opinion Syko has the best Rb into S chassis mounts but McKinney should hold up... Just don't beat on it slot

im running the syko mounts and they are perfect. motor sits in the bay perfectly-low and to the back. very high quality mounts and they can withstand pretty much any amount of power you throw at them. they even make a turbo outlet that mates up perfectly with a sr20 downpipe if you plan on using the stock turbo for a while.

we offer 2 different street Issolator(mounts) rubber and poly and 2 different RACE/Drift mounts semi-solid and solid to cover all you needs.. Street is just that for street use and the race; semi and solid will handle all race set up......We have cars with over 1000HP on the race set ups.....

Where do I find an r32 or r33 crossmember for $100? All I've seen of crossmembers is on raw brokerage for $200. I'm in Naples, FL. So I'll go as north as Orlando or to Miami if its any help.

I bought both mine from JDMHookup. The 33 will be easier because of the angle of the pads on the xmember. My mounts were like 2" tall of 1 3/4 DOM tubing with a washer welded on top. The 32 is still possible it just has the mounts with a much greater incline on the pads.

The R33 crossmember brand new is $250 try eBay.... The crossmember on Rawbrokerage is used... Don't cheap out those type of parts the motor is heavy to begin with...

I vote Top Hat mounts.

I have used them in 4 different cars. perfect fit every time. the engine is at perfect height and the shifter location it spot on.

My 2 experiences with McKinney mounts is that they are overpriced junk. Took 2 very very experienced mechanics who have done countless swaps 3 hours to get the motor to sit right. they are Adjustable is way too many ways.. you can't just bolt the brackets in and set the motor. There is hours of adjustments involved to get the motor to sit right.

Top Hat is 250 bucks and you don't have to buy mounts for it too it comes with its own. One of the cheapest and IMO the best value..

I have Top Hat mounts and they are the worst garbage I've spent money on throughout this whole swap (since 2004) and I've spent $20k in parts. I had my own tranny mount built to replace theirs because that flimsy POS allowed the shifter to bounce all over like an old bus. The isolators are from an 80's Buick and I'm afraid that they're going to pull apart and damage my engine/piping/electrical/etc. I will be replacing them with urethane.

My buddy had McKinney mounts on his RB25/30 swap with over 400 hp and it had much more torque than an RB25. His mounts never budged because they are much thicker material and have additional bracing that the Top Hat mounts do not have. Unless McKinney has changed their design, they have always been stout but overpriced.

FYI, you can't buy TopHat mounts anymore. They sold their design off to Zerolift who basically used one step thicker material and rebadged them.

If I could do it all over again, I would have used the R33 crossmember and swapped in some urethane bushings for isolators. It is a much more stable setup than an aftermarket kit.
