Don't normally post but I troll this forum for the RIDICULOUS amount of good information. So any help on this topic would be much appreciated.
I currently have an 03 G35 Sedan with stock 17's and 215 55 17 for tires.
I am in love with the XXR 526 and am about to order...
I want the wheels to be completely flush or very close to the fender line...as deep a dish as possible for both the front and the rear. I want 17's still as the tires are inevitably cheaper and I do ALOT of travelling. I DO NOT want to stretch tires and the ride height will always be stock. What is your best suggestion?
I'm thinking 17x10 at 20 offset in the rear obviously and 17x9 at 35 offset fronts...no spacers. And still don't know what a fair tire size would be but I definently am 99% sure I want the Continental DWS as I have them on the Evo. I would like the tire size to be the same so I can rotate by taking them on/off the wheels as needed...but it's not necessary and staggered is fine.
Thanks for you help!!

you can't have both a flush wheel & fat tire without mad fender work / roll - pull

What's your suggestion then? I'm open...
Honestly, it's gonna look like shit with stock suspension.
Don't even start this venture.

im gonna have to agree. gotta pay to play. you can pull off a really good look but its gonna require an additional investement in some coils and stretching some tires. you will lose some driving comfort but it will look and function much better

my suggestion is to leave it stock. if you put ANY wheel other than say, another stock wheel - you will need to lower it or you will look like a poseur.
17s are economical but its not an economical car to tune or modify. Newer cars like the Z/G, or even most Lexus'es require a good amount of dough in order to appear nicely tuned. You cannot get away cheap like the 240 crowd. This means 18" wheels are a minimum, especially since the OE Brembo brakes fill that easily. 17" just look too small on that car, regardless of what wheel it is.
I just downsized from 18" to 17" on my Lexus and I did it for the same reason, I did not want to continue buying 18" rubber but price aside and more importantly, i prefer the way the car behaves with 17s as opposed to 18s. But this is on an older car tuned to ride on 15-16" OEM wheels. The G typically comes with 17-19" OEM wheels, depending on model (coupe/sedan, base or premium).
Your cheapest bet would be to buy the wheels of your choice, good tires, some lowering springs (and shocks), thats the absolute bare minimum.
ps: invest in some better tires, those continentals are bleh. keep your OEM wheels as spares/winter tires.

For sure...I've got a Z31 that the father in law now rocks, so I know where you're coming from. I don't want to go crazy with the infiniti as it's just going to be kept around for a year or so then traded in for a gtr. Until I move closer to my work and don't have to put as much mileage on godzilla. Was looking at the most cost effective way of going about it and I absolutely love what most do here on zilvia with their vehicles. Just wasn't sure if I wanted to go that drastic for a temporary thing. I absolutely HATE that I have to mod everything I own but it's a disease as I'm sure most of you can understand. Thank you all for your input thus far!

At stock height, the only setup that will look good is your stock setup. Once you put wheels on, your car is going to look like a monster truck (moreso than now I mean). And at stock height, flush becomes sunken when lowered and poke becomes flush when lowered (because of camber).
If you want a good example of how to visually enhance the Gsedan while still keeping it functional for traveling or even hauling your family, eyeball Marcus Cooke's G35 sedan. He's a photographer for Canibeat and I think his car has been featured a few times as well. Marc's car is super duper clean, very well low, and was a DD for quite some time. IMO, best G35 sedan on the road. Oh, and by family, I mean wife and 2 little kids, so carseats and comfort are factors.

You've got GTR money and you're putting XXR's on a G35?
I'm confused.

Having the cash doesn't mean I have to spend it ;) I've looked at the meisters...s1's I believe. But I'm not a brand whore and I enjoy the money elsewhere. XXR aren't terrible neither are Rota's, I've had both on the Evo. But I'm new to the staggered as the Evo had entirely different offsets and must be matched. I'm learning :) Wheels aren't really too too important as long as they're safe, I do enjoy the deep dish look...

if your G35 is a sedan and the G35x AWD version, you will need 4 identical non staggered wheels also FYI

XXR and Rotas AREEE Terrible.. They have horrible offsets that are all intended for hondas that use +30 offsets. Garbage.
You have G35, go with 19s if you are going to get new rims. 18s are stock looking and you will usually run 45 sidewalls and still have wheel gap. 19s with 35-30 sidewalls will look stylish and done correctly. You dont have to go all out and get coilovers but a minor drop with some Eibach ($2-300) Springs will do plenty. Camber kits you can purchase from easily for $2-300.
you say you dont want to spend lots of money but if you cheap out and have your car look like crap.. whos wasting money now?

I also had on 03 auto. I bought it used when my son was born as I didn't have a sedan or an SUV at the time. Lowered it on Tanabe DF210 and 20's since it was only a cruiser. It rode pretty well with some minor rubbing in the back. 20x8.5 fronts and 20x10 rears. Got rid of the car but I still have the springs. Let me know if you want them.

^^^Thats not bad on springs. 17s on a sedans are a horrible idea. Don't they run those 17s stock?!?! Looked around Rimtuck real quick and even 19s doesnt look that big on them. General consensus that I can see is 9j +30 to +40 if you want to run big tires. Less offset (+12 +15), if you want to stretch tires.

Them fenders are gonna need'a rollin, that I can guarantee as I've rolled a couple Sedans in the last couple years. Not much clearance in those cars.

Honestly +35 is a weak ass offset on a G/Z it is a very conservative sizing for that car and will be sunken in. On my z I had two seperate setups both of which worked well and handled great, not to mention also cleared the oem brembos. RPF1's in the sizing 18x9.5+15 F and 18x10.5 +15 R will work well with minor fender work depending on tire choice. Usually you'll see 245's or 255's up front in that sizing with a slight roll on the front, and 275's/285's on the rear with a roll also depending on camber settings. If you're looking for 17's I had 17x10 +12 FN01RC's on all four corners with 275/40's front and rear, while this is a more aggressive setup it can be done if you know what you are doing with minor fender work.
However, any of this will look like complete and utter shit unless you lower your car. If you aren't willing to lower it all I can recommend is some other oem wheels because anything aftermarket looks like shit on a stock ride height car. Tanabe df210's springs actually lower quite a bit if that is all you are looking for but that would be bare minimum what I'd do in your situation.

Z's and G's can dropped pretty fucking swell just with springs,. and some people get those tokico shocks for a little more drop.
id do that first cuz its cheap and see where your at before you buy wheels
