Bone stock bro, original motor and trans, for real.
I don't drift at all, to be honest. I try really hard to never exceed 4000 RPM... it's 100% legit bone stock, except for my sticker'd up wink mirror ;P haha!
Also, recently my timing chain started to rattle. It leaks a little oil, and over-heats occasionally haha, but it's one hell of a daily driver. As a matter-of fact, I JUST removed the OEM Speakers LOL! Still have the OEM Pignose lip too, etc, etc. I am, however, missing my rear wiper!!! GAH! Those fucking thieves, haha j/k.
BUT -- Coming this summer is the big s13 Black Top SR swap! Woot! I am going to keep my dash cluster though so i can continue my trek!
Oh and just for fun, I'm just a few miles short of going to the moon and back! haha!

I myself am heading to the 200K range (198K), my other friend is boosting a single cam @ 230K &, a another member/buddy of mine is at 320K with his stock KA. It's never seen the track but he's pushed his KA pretty hard.
Eventually I will go with an SR swap though.
Z_Spool
03-15-2012, 09:17 AM
I'm at well over 300K on the chassis. 4th engine. :p
Stock KA-E died from metal shavings in the pan thanks to the timing chain guide wearing through (sounds like the OP may be getting this too, so swap out that guide out before it's too late)
Second KA-E was replaced with a DOHC 5-speed transplant from a parts car
KA-DE's head gasket popped during a late night excursion into the mountains, and has since been replaced with an SR.
The frame's straight as an arrow, no rust... Just needs new bushings/suspension and she'll drive like a brand new car.

i think im at 218k on my chassis, previous owner swapped in a low mileage ka but when i got it, the body was still absolutely perfect. op how long have you had the car!?!!?
mhubble91
03-15-2012, 09:56 AM
I dont have any pics of the car right now, but it's in 8/10 condition all the way through. NO zip ties, no crashes no smashes, no ... anyhting, lol. STILL on OEM Teardrops!! haha... Maroon, Pignose hatch - 5spd. Honestly, ive only had it for about 6 months. I bought it from this guy's little shop for 1300. He, apparently, bought it from the original owner down in vacaville CA and did a head gasket job. Since I've bought it, it's needed and alternator, a new battery, a thermostat, a timing chain, a radiator, and ... gas. lol

this was my daily for 2 years. had 227k on it, i had a rebuilt ka that had only 10k miles on it before i swapped it into my current chassis. this thing was so rusty there was more then 1 occasion a jackstand went through the car or the interior carpet would get soaked from all the holes. http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m530/ka24debt/zilvia3.jpg

I'm at 196k on a 95 S14. Engine's on its dying breath. HG is leaking causing the car to suddenly overheat ever so often, its burning oil and coolant, and compression is shit at 140 across the board. Previous owner decided to run the car with no fucking thermostat so the engine never got up to temp...would probably explain the shitty compression.

i'm on an auto KA that I converted to manual at 146k. it's now at 223k and i'm sure it will last a while longer, but it's not getting the best gas mileage and i already have a daily driver waiting on the side. I'm not sure I can beat the OP, but nearly 500K on original engine. i think that is unheard of.

My Ls400 that I had before had 235,xxx and had one previous owner (bought it from my mom lol) but it was in perfect condition and ran really strong till my roommate backed into it all high one day in his Durango and totaled it :(
My first s13 had a problematic OD that only worked like 1/4 of the time and it had 218,xxx so you know that the mileage had to be higher ;) it was on its second engine cus I popped the KA and went Sr

My KA runs like a champ. Needs an oil pan gasket as it leaks a little bit of oil but I've never had any problems other than the ignition switch every once in a while.
I'm the third owner, all FL. Bought it earlier this year at around 205. 5-speed and my daily!

259,123mi and counting! Original SOHC, original trans (to the best of my knowledge). Only major thing that I can see has been done is the timing chain!
As for "How do you guys get the engines to last so long?", it's simple. These engines will last as long as you take care of them. KA's are some of the toughest and most reliable engines I have ever seen or heard about. Most 240 owners simply don't take care of the cars. Fix oil leaks, maintain the cooling system, belts/hoses, etc... 9 times out of 10 when a KA blows its' because it ran out of some sort of essential fluid because the owner was a jackass...

I have a '90 hatch, 5spd, with 246k miles.. I just bought the car in feb.. I know that its not correct because the speedo stops randomly.. so who knows how many miles are really on it.. and whether its the original motor and tranny or not, your guess is as good as mine.. speaking of which, does anybody know what could cause this speedo problem?

Was browsing through my old pictures and stumbled on this one from when my old s14 hit 200k. http://i1304.photobucket.com/albums/s532/jfox31/IMG_0012_zps0025da13.jpg (http://s1304.photobucket.com/user/jfox31/media/IMG_0012_zps0025da13.jpg.html)
Went about another 8k miles before some idiot rear ended me and totaled the car.

Motor is still alive in my friends hatch though. He's probably put another 20k on it and it still runs flawlessly. We compression tested it last moth and iirc the numbers where near perfect. Ka's are pretty much indestructible if you keep up with basic maintenance lol.

Got about 220,XXX racked on my '93 S13, Auto with stock KA24DE. First car/240 and Daily Driver (bought after grad in 2011.) Been having issues with this thing since day one. This year replaced 02 senor, all four injectors, (just did the last two last night with my older brother,) coolant temp sensor, tie rods and rack & pinion to my from right side. tons more shit in the first year. Progress is slow to keep my baby running and not shit itself. Still running rich after new injectors and the almighty rough idling. Checking in for a tune-up and all the wonderful underlying causes later.

259k on my 95 zenki (auto to 5spd swapped)(bought it with a blown up ka24de that went 257k) car now has a ka24de from a 98 with 117k~
seems as if the automatic 240s with high miles are ok to have being they weren't beaten down for 15+ years.
so for my s14 with 259k, It has no broken parts/pieces interior wise and the exterior is good too. This is my 1st s14 and from what i see these cars are built tough from nissan. very solid little car.
