I drove home the other night and parked my car, woke up the next morning to reverse out of parking stall and it wont go into reverse!? normally i can just put it into second and then reverse or into first and then reverse but its acting like its locked out? 1-5 work great but reverse is non existant. any ideas? id think broken shift fork but isnt 5th and reverse on the same fork?

Try pushing the shifter into reverse as you are giving it a little throttle, should snap into place.

that didnt work for me, if i roll backwards slowly it will slide right in however. i just played with it tonight and also realised the throwout bearing is making alot of noise, could this be causing my issue? maybe not releasing the tension off from the input shaft fully?

mine does that, all i have to do is let up on the clutch and then press it again, and usually it goes in

Ah yes, this is what I meant... LOL. If you hold the shifter in the reverse gear area as you SLOWLY let up on the clutch pedal, it should pop into place. I have to do this a few times a month usually...

no there not on the same fork, you may have bent it over i did that to my altima back in the day lost 2nd and reverse, you need to try to slam it in to reverse if you get it in move the shifter from right to left to try to bend it back if not you have to drop the trans pull out every thing and bend it back by hand or get a new trans
