So on 02/01/12 my e36 m3 got totalled, hit by a young girl, I loved the car to death and never imagined this happening nor picture myself in any other car

While I had the car I was about to buy an s13 project car to slowly build on, now that I have received 9k from the insurance one side of me wants to jump on a s13 sr20 and one side of me wants to stay on the raw power of an s52, I'm stuck in between buying another e36/e46 or going over to the darkside and getting a s13 with a pretty good base built sr. The car will be my DD, I have a few shops so bodywork and mechanical work won't be a problem.

Can anyone tell me their honest non-biased opinion?

The dark side is BMW. Getting an S13 would be coming to the bright side. :)

If you really are that hesitant of getting an s13, you should just stick to what u know... S13s are fun, but they are a lot of work and time and dedication which you may or may not be prepared for

not hesitant, just want to be well prepared and not drive a half way completed car like most s13s in so cal.

Coming into the most active S-chassis forum on the net and asking if you should buy a BMW or S13 is about as worthless as a leaky rubber. How the hell are we supposed to know what YOU want?

For $10k you should be able to buy a decent S13 with a swap. But you sure as hell won't be able to build one for that... not even close.

Ok well if you are in so cal you must know that having a swap in ur 240 is not uncommon and what's more is that the wrong ppl (cops) know this and u will always risk gettin messed with by the authorities. It's not like ur putting a non carb legal intake on ur m3, there are stricter ramifications. With that being said why don't you do something completely out of the blue like put ur m3 motor in an s-chassis that way it's still legal and still fast and fun

That would be just as illegal as having an sr20, and I sold my s50. I'm more looking for someone who has a lot of experience with both cars rather than someone telling me why I came here and asked that question like that guy ^^

Zilvia.net is not here to make your decisions for you.

If you want to know what you're getting yourself into, read up. There are more than enough builds and Tech threads on this forum for you to research.

Enjoy your stay. :lockd:
