Well, my redtop motorset arrived yesterday from Heavy Throttle. I couldn't be happier with condition it's in. Everything was neatly packaged with plenty of wood surrounding it/holding it in place. All in all, I am 100% pleased with it. I give Heavy Throttle two HUGE thumbs up on customer service and delivering exactly what I paid for.

Now, I do have one question. This goes out to anyone that has purchased a motor. I pulled the plugs last night to take a look and as I started from cyl 1 (near rad support?) and moved back. The first two looked great...a nice burn, etc. #3 and #4 had a little bit of oil on the threads and electrode of the spark plugs. The o-rings on the valve cover are good from what I can see. I was under the assumption that when you compression test a motor you put a teaspoon of oil in every cylinder. Is that maybe where this oil came from? I pulled the dipstick and couldn't find any oil so I'm assuming it was drained. What do y'all think? More pics tonight.

generally when doing a comp. test you don't drop oil into the cylinders unless you get an unfavorable result when doing the test dry. this can mean a lot of things but it's most likely just from sitting they had to drop a little oil in each of those cylinders to bring the compression up. as long as it's not excessive then it should be alright.

I mean, #1 and #2 were fine. #3 and #4 had a GOOD bit of oil. So much that when I pulled them out, oil dripped onto the valve cover. :-/

This motor looks to be in good condition none-the-less, so we'll see what happens when I start her up.
