okay. so i went to wire up the stereo right. and it didnt work. i tested the current and my constant yellow wire is getting plenty of power. now when i turn the key forward the red wire gets approx 3volts of power. is this suffiecent power to turn the stereo on? i know for a fact the stereo works i had it tested today. if anyone with any insight on this topic could help i would be very happy.

you need 12 volts or it will not work, you grabbed the wrong wire for accessory more than likely

accessory is any wire that turns on when the car's ignition is in the "ACC" position.

Just take a multimeter and find one that is switched power with ~12v

there is a blue wire on the stock harness , that is the accessory wire (or key on) There is not a groung wire in the stock harness you have to groung the black wire from the stereo to chassis metal

okay i didnt know blue wire was key on. so to wire for remote turn on for amp i would have to run one from that wire also to the back.

My dad who thinks he's a master of wires  decided to try and hook up my stereo.
Needless to say there was a spark, and no power.
Pretty sure I blew the fuse, none of the wires are getting any power. Which fuse powers the stereo?

1st the yellow wire is constant 12v
2nd the red wire is switched 12v ( from ignition)
3rd there is no ground in the nissan harness you will have to run the black ground to metal!!
4th there are 2 blue wires, 1 is a 12v antenna wire for your power antenna,
the other is a 300millamp amp turn on. on some adapter harnesses like form scoche or metra these are the same wire.

the fuses are in the kick panel drivers side i think like a 10 amp, also if your car has a factory amp there might be a fuse for that also.

nissan only ran a factory amp for the rear speakers

hope this helps

also if you go to THE12VOLT.COM it has complete wiring diagrams for the car

where would you reccommend the best ground at? and would a fuse being burnt out affect the acc blue wire getting voltage??
