ive done quite a bit of research about cams, heard many things. looking to upgrade the track car a little more. im just looking for advice on what type of cam to get. 264s? 272s? those are the most common sizes looking at the whole bc head package on frsport and cant decide. any one have any advice?

Jim wf technology s3 cams....stock valvetrain....its best setup without a doubt. Plus you can save cash over the BC setup and put it towards a track day. Win win.

thanks cody, is this your personal setup or something you've learned from experience? Anyone else care to chime in? i should list my bottom end is built, turbonetics t3/t4, and a few other goodies.

I've been playing with SR's for almost Ten years now, the only other worthwhile options are HKS and Tomei cams.

I'd suggest something in the 256-264* for the cams, however comparing duration across cam manufacturers is like comparing Pepsi to Orange Juice hehe. Cam selection is not cut and dry for sure. I'm certainly you'll have the guys saying 'oh run BC cams they are awesome' but it seems those cars are always down on power, and require springs/retainers to be run....which leaves you to think 'why wouldn't I just run the better cam that is cheaper overall'

It's Cody's personal experience. The cams are more expensive for a reason, because they're awesome, and you can run them easily with a stock valvetrain (which, like he said, will save you money, and you'll have an amazing set of drop in cams).
Do it once, do it right.

Edit for Cody: I run BC 264's on my current motor (didn't buy them, came like that on a wrecked coupe I purchased), and my old SR with stock cams and a gti-r t28 (with s14 comp housing of course) felt wayyyy more responsive, then my BC's and a greddy t517z.

Another edit: On another SR I have, it has HKS 264/272 step toos, and those also feel much better than the BC's. Just my .02 though, I'm sure there are guys out there that have had better luck than me with them.

yea, you match cams to the turbo. Search the camshaft mega thread.
