hey all
i was in the store the other day and saw these replacement interior panels that have speaker...holes...moulded into them. They didnt have any for a 93 240SX, anyone have any idea where i could get some?? (like they replace the panel behind your door and a speaker goes into it.)

Cut some from masonite from home depot using a jig saw. Terribly easy.

hello bill!!
the pieces im speaking of are moulded around where the speaker will go, the factory panels arent deep enough to fit a speaker into..The same panel where the seatbelt comes from

SEARCH
Search "Tech Talk" with my name, you should find plenty a thread about speaker fitment into S13.
Running 6 1/2 in front -- woot!

are you talking about Q forms? if so they are kick panels which mount in front of the door...

I have a set of tweeters in the panel you are talking about. They fit great and sound nice right behind your ear. If you want larger speaker I don't know what to tell you. I'm sure you could make them work. Try to find an extra pair of panels or even just one from the junkyard to play around with.

6.5's in the front arent anything to get excited about...I've had 6 1/2 Pioneer Rev's in my fastback for ever now, and before that TSA 6 1/2's.
Problem with the 240 is its a horrible sound stage, clarity is rare...

I am running 6.5 infinity kappa components in the front and I just used microboard. Cut the hole and mounted it behind the door panel. I looks bone stock except for the tweeters which are surface mounted.
Sounds pretty good. You will still need a sub if you want big lows but I have no room for a woofer and speaker box.
FYI- Infinity makes a 10" sub that has it's own enclosure and amped called the basslink. Very convienent if space is an issue. I don't really care about massive bass though

It is when you consider they come with 4x6 stock, all of which suck ass.
I dare anyone to show me a good 4x6 speaker. Especially one that compares to a 6 1/2.
Go on. Do it.
KAPPAs put out decent sound, even in the front.. my koop has great sound coming from the rear, but the front kind of screws up the balance :P
Component speakers in front might make it better but I'd guess the sound would be too bright...

I have the fade almost full forward. I have my 6x9's mounted in boxes attached to the read seat backing (interior is gutted) so being as the rear speakers are so close to my dome the staging as all wrong.
In the new uber secret project, there will be a set of Rev componets up front and rear, plus enough bass to make my woman shiver and smile... :)

4x6? easy, component plates. components will nearly always sound better than coaxials. coaxials are a compromise.

I 100% agree!! Coxials are a waste of damn time....even the "uber cool" triaxial's are st00pid.
Component systems are the best for clarity...w00t w00t

my stereo currently consists of 2 tweeters mounted just ahead of the shifter, stock door speakers, no rear speakers, and a 10" sub. Pioneer deck in the front- the cheapest one they make. All in all the whole thing cost me under $150 and sounds great
