Yeah, so at 7:15 this morning, I got a call saying my CA was going to be here at about 8:30. After some hairy maneuvering getting it off the truck I've finally got the clip in my garage. Unfortunately I've been stuck with excellent weather for the swap .
I'm going to get some pics with my dad's digital cam today (hopefully).
So, does anyone have any suggestions for prep before the engine goes in? The list I have so far is:
Change seals
Change valve cover gasket
Clean really well
flush all fluids
change all filters
change clutch and flywheel

w00t, bout time!! :w00t:
I would also to a compression test, spark plugs, and check the turbo for free play in the shaft. I don't know to much about the CA, but is there any valve adjustments that can be done?? If so check that. I am sure you will find more stuff as you swap. Good luck man, and post some pics!

cool! are you going to get it running stock first? or are you gonna start with a couple basic mods? (FMIC, BOV, etc..)

I love the ca, good engine. I sold off all my pimp ass parts though. Anyway, my advice is to check all the gaskets and such and replace the ones that need replaced. Put the engine in the car STOCK... people say "might as well do this or this while its out" but then it doesn't run right and they don't know if its the engine or the mods...
so try it stock first. then build up the mods. that thing can be a giant killer... with the right bumpsticks and rods you can build yourself a 9k redline screamer.

Yeah, so it came with all the body panels and everything too, plus it was shipped with a lancer evolution hood strapped to the top of it to keep things out of the engine! Of course the body panels are all munched though as is the hood, so it's really just more for me to throw away. The good thing is, they kept the engine safe.
Anyway, I'm putting the engine in stock except I'm going to try to mount the SMIC in front of the radiator (don't know if It'll be worth it, but I don't want to cut a hole in my bumper). Before putting it in, however, I'm going to put it on an engine stand and check everything out. It shipped with all the fluids in it, I think that's a big no-no, but I'm not sure if it hurt anything or not. I definately want to flush it out completely and do some work to get it cleaned up and stuff before I put it in though.
After I get the swap done and I get some more money again, I'm going to buy myself another CA short block to build up. I figure that's the best way to minimize downtime.
Anyway, I'll keep everyone posted. :)
