I talked to a guy the other day that impoorts cars and parts from japan and he said he could get a s13 silvia(rhd obviously) for about $4500 all said and done. I don't know how credible the guy is yet. I'm not looking to buy one but my friend is. I have him looking into a s13 front end foe me though. I hope it's not:bs:

I know a guy who just got an R32 Skyline GT-R for $16,000 without going through Motorex or RB Motoring.... Got the car within a couple of months...and he's registering it as a kit car...
but thats in Pennsylvania

Somebody told me that you can register it for alot cheaper through a local RI and not through motorex. Cause motorex overcharges people which I could believe. Oh and I know somebody with a RHD civic (its a show car) and he can drive it around only for a certain amount of miles. You could always register it like that or a track car.

it's all about knowing the loop holes and having connections...after that the rest is pretty easy...

anyone know specific laws on Kit Cars?..what they can and can't be used for...registration fees..insurance...etc?

yea he said something about registering it as a 240. He said he's done it before and has had no problems. The only thing that would concern me is getting the car to pass emissions. Luckily though I know some people @ the DMV who will make sure it passes. I wish I had the money to get a real sileighty over here. If I remember correctly they are valued about what a R32 GTR is. Hopefully this guy is ligit and he can be my import person for JDM stuff.

yeah if you wanna get in big trouble...lol got for it. just dont get pissed when your cars impounded and your slapped with a heafty fine and community service, unless you already got a wrap sheet. in that case, have fun grabbing your ankles in a minimum security prison. lol;)

Importing a car legally is not really that much money ...silvias and soon to be 180sx cars can be imported easily for under $5g through an importer.... If you want a model that is not 15 years old then you have to be clever to register it or even get it into the country . Its been done but not recommended dodging the law...get pulled over one time in the wrong situation and you can be expecting what CoasTek240 is talking about
