hi guys, i was just wondering if anyone can refer me to a shop or person that can help do my timing on my sr20. i think its one tooth off or somethings up with the timing and i just want to get it done. the problem i'm having with it is i have to advance the cas all the way to get the car to run better. i'm located in fresno, ca and i'm willing to drive out to get this done in another place if u guys know someone that knows how to do it correctly.

"search" button is your friend. there are quite a few threads that will walk you through checking timing marks (on the chain) and how to install a cas.

the important questions here are:
-did this all of a sudden start happening?

or

-did you modify something/install new parts and THEN this started happening.

the thing is i already had someone checked out and he says everything seems correct. we checked the timing chain. counted the links between them. made sure cas was stabbed correctly. ran out of ideas. i did lots of search on this already and tried most of the things. the only thing i'm thinking left is just redo the whole timing with new tensioners and make sure everything is on correctly. I dont have all the tools or time to do this and would just like to find someone that can do the job correctly.

So if you already verified that the timing is set correctly and the cas
Is installed correctly why are you looking to pay someone else to check what you already did?

because i want it fixed correctly. not just to look at it but most likely redo the whole timing. still needed to advance the cas to hit the 15 so i'm pretty sure its off somewhere.

Sounds Like your cas is simply a tooth off.

Make sure you are checking timing at TDC on the compression stroke not the exaust stroke(cam lobes pointing out on #1 cylinder), if thats OK then its your CAS position.

Hope this helps
