Not enough support, how many nascar races have you guys gone to there? Probably none, except the small drift events held there.

its not like irwindale catered to the daily drifter

I'm sure it will be ok, people will figure it out. Drifting wont die. It does suck a lot, but we will overcome. And FD will find another place bigger and better I'm sure.

Exactly, I'm not from the area, But i'm assuming if it's anything like the local tracks around here they have a weekly or bi-weekly circle track racing event that if people don't show up to why would they stay open to keep some kids happy for a handfull of drifting events a year.

Most likely Fontana Speedway. They have a lot of traffic for Auto-X and track events going on a weekly basis.

I will miss it, I attended alot of the Formula D, D1, and even Drift Showoff events there. As well as done my first track event there years ago. But those where not nascar events, which was their main sponsor.. Once their main sponsors drop out, they don't see much revenue from other events I guess. I don't like short tracks for nascar imo it is just too small , id rather go to Autoclub speedway and see cars doing like 200mph if I want to see nascar.

Emails and postings on Facebook have been made to show support and try to keep it alive.
Myself an others had a idea and sent a email to Rob Dyrdek in regards to the track and how it woul be a good investment for him and his company as well as monster banging it for motorsports events skating venues etc along with the drag and even scca cone courses.

Issues are just way to much to be faced with, to keep this venue open.

CARB
Noise pollution
Properly tax
Declining attendance
Economy

Issue is there are a lot of mechanics that are needed to keep a track open and sadly the owners probably got something interesting instead of keeping the track open. Issue is Fontana will be the only and last place nearest to Los Angeles and that is even still a far drive for a lot of people.

Just in case none of you want to read the entire article.
This sucks. ._.'
"Attendance over the past two seasons has gradually dwindled since the heydays of the early 2000 s. The track does not release attendance numbers, but an average of about 2,700 people attended 28 races last year.

The track averaged more than 5,000 attendees in a 6,500-seat stadium for four consecutive seasons, starting in 2001."

A lot of GrassRoots promoters try to talk to Irwindale for the past couple of years to rent the facility for Drifting but their prices are ridiculous. If they have special prices for smaller groups to bring in income, it would have prevented this closing.

Now some rich fucker will demolish it and build houses.

Now some rich Attorney will demolish it and build houses.

talk about profit and fixed, so now what will happen, so the attorney and his buddy's will make profit from bleeding people for some crappy homes financed by his buddies at the bank and to top it off will make more money from people who will get nailed for street racing or accidents caused by people who do not have a place close to them to race legally, call me stupid but do the math and add it up.

The bigger issue is what will happen to all those shops in the El Monte area once this is closed. There's a lot of "car shops" because of Irwindale. Now that it is closed, those shops would most likely close down and move because (let's face it) El Monte is pretty expensive and ghetto to open house there. Probably moved more west.
