blu808
01-12-2004, 12:37 AM
Hey guys, heres the deal. I want to have a meet so everyone can chill, talk cars, and best of all weigh their cars for free. The meet will be at Happy dayz diner in campbell. ( same spot as the meet a few months ago) We will all chill there, get some food, talk cars and wait for peeps. Then we will head out to the weight station next to the san jose airport. ( about 10 mins away)

Meet time should be around 6 since the weight station closes then.

Anyways. Lets plan for:
6 pm
Happy days diner
Saturday
Jan 31st

Let me know whos coming. It will be a fun event for all.

Is there a prize for the heaviest car?;)

blu808
01-13-2004, 12:15 AM
There is no prizes but it will be just like a reg meet plus a weight meet. You will now know after this meet how much your car weighs. and after every mod you can weigh your car and see the results.
Let me know and spread the word. I dont care if theres a old school vw out there lets weigh some shiznit,

prolly closes for business at 6...meaning if you all show up after (illegally, trespassing) there wont be anyone there to tell you that you can't all use their equipment to weigh your cars...:p

i don't think it works that way, luke can clear all this up i'm sure, but my guess would be that it is a truck weigh station scale place of some sort...not for use by automobiles..so you HAVE to go after they close...

i would doubt they care though so i'm sure there's no risk...just bad Karma..:p...but luke wouldn't put anyone in potential harms way...so i wouldn't stress it...

nah i don't think i'll be there...chances are against me having a car by then...but if for some reason i do have one and it's put together i'd roll out..be fun to see it's weight..

The weight scales are at the end of a court in industrial part of Santa Clara. It is a big cement slab that you roll up onto at the end of a street and you look across the street into a control tower to see your weight on a little screen. At or around 6pm on a weekend day is totally a good time to go. Cops have even rolled through before when we have been there and they don't care. Now with a big huge group of 240sx's I could see some cops possibly hassling and kicking people out. But the chances of them even rolling through is kind of slim. The weight scale is sort of part of a public road and I don't even think it is illegal to roll onto it. It is part of big huge paper recycling factory, the scale is used to weigh the trucks before they enter the factory.

blu808
01-14-2004, 07:59 PM
The scale is in a open area right next to the road. I have also been there around midnight with 4 other car. we all chilled there for about a half hour then the cops rolled up, they just asked what we were doing and then they took off. I dont think it should be a prob. Ohh and also the recycling place closes at 6pm on weekends, not happy dayz. I just thought we could all meet up there to get some food, hang out, and play follow the leader to the weight station.

Noah sorry to hear about your car. I have a bunch of parts laying around if you need anything for your new one.

You guys are a bunch of retards.

stock4door
01-22-2004, 06:47 PM
It's a 4 door datsun 510.

Datsun is Nissan. My 510's sill plates say manufactured by Nissan. The Valve cover on the stock motor says Nissan on it. They used the name Datsun until 1983 because when they started marketing cars in the U.S. they felt the name Nissan sounded to Japanese to market with in a domestically dominated car market scene. The car is a product of the Nissan motor coorporation. I just think that sometimes people in the 240sx world are so new to the car scene that they don't realize these old Datsuns running around are all Nissans, and thus is why we swap engines from newer s13's, z31's, etc. The 240sx is a direct derivative of the 510 actually. IRS, rwd, 4 cylinder platform, and the power plants all have direct hand me down the line striking similarities to each other also. So when you see a 510 or a Z roll up to a 240sx gathering, remember where your technology stemmed from. Roots.

Danny,

You gotta learn to take a Joke. I understood what you guys ment. I know what the 510 is. I personally would perfer a CA18 in a 510 just because of room. The smaller CA18 would be perfect and still give you alot of room to work inside the car with.

Anywayz off topic. Yeah I was just messing around. I thought you guys would have picked up on that.

P.S. I want an RB25DET powered 1970 Datsun 240z. Now that would be my dream car.

David,

It's all good.... I never thought you weren't joking (although everyone knows you can't tell that stuff in online text even with smileys n stuff). I was just clarifying for people that really do get confused.

Now you wanna debate the ca18 topic? haha Nah... I respect anyone that does a clean engine swap into a 510 regardless of the motor... although people that step outside the nissan world for engine swaps do scare me sometimes.

I'll try to make it tomorrow after I'm done installaing the LSD. I might bring my friend with an old school bug if that's okay. Quick question, were you also able to add an LSD additive when you filled the diff with oil? Just wondering.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is the address for the meet for those that don't know:

Happy Days Diner

What were you filing and why? All you have to do is

-Unbolt output shafts from axles (6 bolts on each side)
-Remove open diff pumpkin (4 on front two up top)
-Remove axles (one bigass 26mm nut on the hubs)
-Install new axles (reverse of removing old ones)
-Install new pumpkin (reverse of removal)

thats it. Why are you filing things? It fits right in. I did one last week... you know dvdevo (David) dont you? If you need help installing it, give him a call and tell him to give me a ride to DC. ;)

LOL, you guys are funny.. I just traded lsd's with Luke so everything should be okay now. The reason why the axle needed to be filed is because someone in Japan hit the top part with a hammer and f**ked some of the threads up.. The nut wouldn't go in unless if the damaged part was shaved off.

David is a cool cat, he's always down to give me a ride in his KA with force reduction. He said he didn't drive his car this week though so I don't know..

Not yet. The filler and drain plug is tough to loosen compared to the other one. I only managed to get the drain plug out and my friend is gonna help me with the filler plug tomorrow. Everything looks good except for the nipple located on the bottom of the cover. It was leaking a lot of oil.. Is that supposed to be normal?

Hey anyone know of someone in San Jose of McKee Road in a Red S13 Hatch with the license plate "Chaos Y".

I'm just curious cause I see him getting on the freeway every day on my way to work.

That nipple is the breather. It is supposed to be facing upwards.

I won't be getting them till the end of the month. I can probably keep up with you right now.. I just don't trust my ricer coilovers anymore. Hey, you should get an LSD foo! Trust me, it's worth it. You can feel the difference right away.

Oh okay the nipple on the diff, I got it. Cuz any other nipple that is leaking oil, is a nipple to stay away from.

I guess you can suck it, but what you do with oily nipples is your buisness.
