certain states only require a safety inspection to get your registration. they look at windshield, blinkers, check engine light, all emergency lights, brakes etc.
But if you're in California you're fucked.
My whole comment is :bs: and doesn't matter
SR20DET is not a Federally legal motor to import to the united states for pubic road use, since it was not offered in any US vehicle.
It is an completely illegal motor even if your City or State does not look at that.
If your City/State offers specialty construction vehicle registration then that is different case. Collector Car laws will vary and usually have millage stipulations. Some states require engine swaps to be of the same kind, the same make, or of the same or similar displacement.

Do not spread false information on legality of an engine. This shit has been covered to death on almost every car forum. If you got a couple million to spend you can go through EPA testing to get the certified but unless it is part of a business plan that is a fucking waste of money.
The only way around it is to import a whole Silvia and register that vehicle.
