FallbrookS13

mine has 167,000 right now. i wanna know who has the highest milleage on a naturally aspirated Ka24 single or dual cam, and what kind of major problems have they had???? and what the hell why not also...... who has put the most money into maintaining their KA. NOT UPGRADING JUST MAINTAING...
ok this should be interesting if I get a lot of resposes, which i hope

Mine's an S14 and I got 177,000 miles. I did a lot of driving, but I don't abuse it as much as some of you guys. Haha. Recently, I replaced my radiator, which wasn't expensive because I got it for $180 and put it in myself. My stock radiator lasted 9 years!!! Can you believe that? that's pretty good.

heh, my '90 has 109k on it right now. Spent about $60 on it to put a straight pipe through on exhaust, cause resonator had huge hole. Also brake pads, and 2 oil changes.

my s14(95) is about to roll over to 216K. Still runs strong and I've abused the crap out of it since 130K when I bought it. Pretty much just oil changes(EVERY 3K), brakes, rotors, replaced a bent wheel, new shocks(stole them off of my bro's s14), took care of a few rust spots, new ignition wires, and replaced anything that wears when it does. I am constantly trying to break something, but it never really does, no smoke out the tailpipe or anything like that. Just a tick from the cam/chain. Other than that, I've been running an Apex'i N1 since I bought it, installed and removed headers, ghetto rigged intake, took off clutch fan and running the a/c fan only(since the weather cooled off), had some springs and broke one, so I'm running stock springs again. Thats all I can think of for now.

206k and change, and that beast is running strong. compression is good just need to reaplace the timing chain and clutch.

Wow, glad to see with a little money and care, you can easily get 225,000 miles! I'm at 170K right now(165K when purchased) I was worried I was gonna have to rebuild or swap in another KA around 200K (suspension/brakes before SR ;) )

191,500 and was running VERY strong with at least 1 eight hour drift event a month...

only thing to ever go wrong was a cracked radiator...replaced for $120 and that was it....

too bad it was wrecked a week ago...

took out the cams last night as it was a 91 and my boy with a 95 wanted them...PERFECT condition..internals looked flawless!!

and this is on a 92 240...
oh yeah i also replace the clutch alot...
but other than that.. it runs like a champ

When I bought my 240 a little over a year ago it had 245k miles on it -------- AND then it died after three months. The motor wasn't bad, so I know it could've went longer. It had an electrical problem. Whenever I drove it and came to a stop I had to keep the revs up or it would die. Sometimes after dying it wouldn't start at all until it sat overnight, and then it eventually got to the point where I turned the key in the ignition and absolutely none of the electronics came on - NOTHING! That gave me an excuse to do the swap. But yeah, nissan makes some strong motors.

Looking at you folks with over 200K, I can almost thing Sadie's still a youngster at 155K.

The car had 43K when I bought it 7.5 years ago. Ran dino oil for a couple of years, then swithed to synthetic about 75K. Replaced the water pump at 115K, and AC compressor at around 140K. Removed upper timing chain guide just for the hell of it, and got rid of the clutch fan about four months ago 'cause it was cracked and looked like it might fly apart. No other engine room mods yet.

It's daily driven, usually fairly hard once it's warmed up, and autocrossed about once a month. I'll probably buy something new(er) in the next several months, but when she doesn't have to do commuter duty, that's when the fun can start.

timing chain, new block, pistons, camshafts........a bunch of stuff. I'm dumping this motor soon.

I only had periodic oil changes, exhaust system (2nd), (3rd) brake pads, (second) clutch, new chain, engine never open other than that. Drive it to work and thats about it.......Oh!, 3 years in storage and ......well check my home page for the rest of the story.....this is some crazy mofo"..........

I have 116,500 miles on my coupe. Just got it this summer, the only thing I have done is give it oil changes (synthetic). Runs very strong. Also, I drive the shit out of it, but no drifting or track.

I decided to wait for the engine to die before getting an SR20 into it.......I guess i'm waiting for a while.

DO NOT BUY FROM RARETRICK! If you value your hard earned money and your sanity, do not buy from them. They swore to me that the parts I ordered would take less than a month. 4 months later I got the parts and was forced to pay almost double what I was quoted. 242k on the stock engine when I pulled it and replaced with a 47k S14 long block. 2000 miles later, I swapped the head off the old engine onto the new one, so the engine as it sits in the car is S14 block, 60k miles, S13 head, 255k miles. Perfect compression :D

Wow! And I thought I had a lot of miles...I'll roll over 209,000 by next weekend. Those miles include 3 track days, 30+ autocrosses, and alot of hard street driving. I've replaced the clutch (upgrade), radiator (upgrade), exhaust (upgrade), water pump, starter, plug wires, cap/rotor, plugs, belts, oil/filter, fuel filtler (upgrade), and brake rotors/pads (upgrade). The timing chain is rattling pretty badly from hitting the guide, though.

89 KA24E with an alleged 128,000

bought it with 109,000
on the trip driving it back home, the radiator crapped out on me, stranding me in Gainsville, FL where the dealership promptly raped me for a new one ($800  )

overrevved it in KC breaking the timing guides off, took it to the dealership where I again paid far too much ($850) Also bent a valve, so it smokes a lot since then.

Then there is all the little stuff like oil changes, new dash, new seat(drivers side one sheared off), plugs, fuel filter, headlights, burned through 2 sets of tires:D, car washes, etc. I figure my 20k miles of KA ownership has cost me about $2k

But recently the car has held up quite well to my abuse. I have flogged it in many autocrosses, and each autocross is a 200 mile round trip. Each time it brings me home in one piece. Plus, now I have learned my lesson and will never take it to a dealership for service ever again:)

If anyone is really interested... here is the truth of what Ian thinks is bad service!

First I get an AIM from him about a Tomei Headgasket Gasket, and he request I order for him. I never get an order off the web-site, nor does he call and give me his information... but the whole time he is sending me AIM about wanting this item. He Finnaly orders 3 months later and adds a set of Samco Hoses for a CA18 in the order. Samco doesn't stock the CA hoses in the US So it was special Order from them... 3 months later Samco delivers to him. The Tomei Headgasket was listed on my site from which he ordered from... but he still implies to this day I have overcharged him... not charged twice... but charged double the amount! When you order off my site you have a recipt to print with your Sub-Total... this amount never changed, and shipping was maybe $20.

Ian, I am sick of calling :bs: on all of your negative post about my company... you know your in the wrong, so please... lay off!

Fun story for those who are bored.

Bought my '92 in '95 with 23K on it. Did 5 speed swap at the beginning of last year had about 163K. After swap, was on the way to friend's house to work on something else, looked down at 80mph and Temp was past H on gauge. Stopped and finally after letting it cool and pouring coolant in made it to friend's house.

Found out water pump had leaked all coolant out. Replaced water pump, installed temp gauge and oil pressure guage. Still ran hot, finally figured out that headgasket was blown, only leaking pressure into coolant at higher RPMs. Bought new KA with 80K miles on it, installed along with some other fun parts on the car. Had it running 2 weeks and got hit by an 18-wheeler, car totalled.

Now, bought '93 with a '96 engine at about 160K miles and the 80K mile engine is backup for when the turbo blows the old one. Bad year last year.
