Ok guys and gals. I have a 89 240 Coupe and the subject of seats are on my mine. Its the last remaining piece I havent decided on. The problem I am told is not all aftermarket seats will fit in the small space of the 240. SportCompactCar used a R33 Skyline and some JIC seats to show how well they fit. The problem is ones rare and the other is too $$$$. So what aftermarket seat will fit in the coupe for a modest price (i.e. $300 per seat)??? Is there any company that actually makes the rails for the 89 Coupe besides the high end seats??? I DO NOT WANT the 95+ 240 seats. I like Corbeau's but I dont think they make rails. Please help me out. I cant afford Blitz or Sparco or Brides.

sparco makes cheap seats. i thought the SPRINT model was about 200 dollars
SCC is wrong
most ALL seats fit in 240sx
the problem is NOT the seat, but the rail design. that's why bride rails (for example) are so sought after. they keep the seat a stock height (and in some cases, lower)

SCC is always wrong.
Every issue I pick up is full of misinformation and incorrect "facts".
It's unfortunate that the bane that is PRIMEDIA, has such a strong grasp on the car magazine market.

You could get R32 seats. I had them for a few days, then sold them. R32 seats are not THAT hard to get and are pretty cheap considering they usually come with the rails. The rail does bolt in (to S13 & S14), but one of the 4 bolting locations needs to be extended about 1" if I remember correctly. I loved the seats, but Dousan had AWESOME Recaro SRD JDM sliders which mount just as low, if not lower than Brid rails. I got REALLY lucky and got those cause I love the SRD, I'm kinda of a bigger guy.

you can try buddy club rails, they are quite cheap and sit as low as bride
and for cheap seats, sparco sprint is pretty good for $230 (pdm-racing), or you can try nex seats, or kfc seats which are not bad for knock off seats but the material will wear fast

If you are looking to save money you don't have to buy "car" specific seat rails. If you know a good auto welding shop you can have the universal rails modified to fit.
I'm using our seats (Recaro SR3 mills) in my Z with universal rails. All I had to do was weld 3'' extensions onto the back of either rail to reach the rear mounting holes.
The 240 mounting holes are obviously more of a pain in the ass but it's doable by any semi-competent welding shop or tuning shop that does welding.

I have R1 racing seats in my 240 - they also sell the brackets for the seats so they bolt right up. Like Dousan said though most aftermarket seats for the 240 sit higher than the stock setup and mine is included in that category also. I will have that fixed later on, but I have more important things to do to my car at the moment.

most seats and most rails use the same mounting holes, so if you use bride bucket rail with nex bucket it should work, if you want to be 100% sure get the mounting measurements and see if they match,
bride rails will bolt on with no mods, car specific rails will bolt on without mods, unless you enoucounter a bride recliner rail that rail has some problems for some reason
the nex seats didn't feel all that bad when i sat in one, it was just a little big for me though (the seat was too tall and wide) but i guess they made it so everyone can fit in it, but it felt good and comfy, i guy i know has had it for almost a year now

Super Autobacs has a bunch of seats you can sit in...
I like the Recaro spg but its like a G+ and I also like the Zeta but kinda too much for me too...
Dousan/Nokeone: Since both of you have older Bride seats, and I might be picking one up too, I was wondering if you guys have sat in the Bride Brix (the gen before Brix II). Are they the same dementions? Feel the same? Ive sat in the Brix before Brix II and just want to make SURE that it will feel/fit the same.

the only difference i have noticed is that the older the BRIX the less supportive the bolsters are as far as height on your leg...they are a little shorter on mine then on Aaron's..you sink down further into the newer BRIX..
the dimensions themselves felt the same to me as far as width and such...

I've been rockin' Corbeau A4's for the past 8 months now and love them. I bought a piar of seats with thier rails and after taking the slider portion of the rails out, they fit perfect. I don't have anyone ever sitting in my backseat (not to mention the backseat isn't even there anymore....haha) so taking out the slider wasn't a big deal to me. They ride great and are relativley cheap $320 per seat and $90 something for the rails. They do however start to get real uncomfy for guys with waste sizes larger then 34 or so.....
