I need to make a spot on cut for my s14 SR IC piping on my s13 chassis. Im checking the greddy diagram, but I dont have the template! Nor am I trusting this diagram (ironic right LOL). I cant afford to be off on cuting the hole, hence im fitting in a PC680 Battery. Fitment is going to be tight! Can anyone here give me any tips or hints? Thanks guys.

Plasma or oxy setaline torch ( pretty sure I spelled setaline wrong )

Youve got tons of room right there and that harness can be moved inches around easily

do a mock up with gift wrapping tubes
oxy-acetylene would probably damage some stuff in that area, plasma cutter would be hard to fit
why not get a drill and use a sawzall, or a hole saw if you can find one big enough
hole saw would by far be the neatest option

Measure twice, cut once. Mock the piping where it would come through and mark accordingly. The best way to cut a perfect circle is with a hole saw chucked for a drill. You can buy them at any home depot. Make sure you deburr the hole, paint the raw metal and use a grommet. Good luck!

Mount battery first then cut hole....

Do this ^, I did and worked perfect!

Hole saw is the only way to go. I'd take Sileighty's advice here as well. Install your battery to where you think/want it to mount. Then you'll have a narrower window to cut for your piping.

i would use a die grinder as that plate for the battery is thick. At least in s13's they are.
The edge of the hole will be right next to the vertical part of the upper frame rail, maybe 1/8" of horizontal space on them (since you don't have the battery tray anymore).
Fore/aft in the chassis isn't that hard to eyeball, it's more or less in the middle of that flat part. Maybe a bit more towards the front. Shouldn't be hard to eyeball it with the piping mocked up.

Thats his problem...the battery tray is gone. He could have used that as a reference via the Greddy diagram if he still have it.
Also, kinda hard to mock up the pipe. Greddy cold pipe is a single pipe from the TB to the L pipe out of the FMIC.
Honestly, best bet is just eyeball it. Get a 4" hole saw and literally take a stab at it.

measure someone elses battery tray from the outer edge to the frame rail and do the same for the core support

That pipe is a bitch. Im already in the process of picking up the hole saw.

I just ordered the bracket tray along with the battery to compinsate for fitment. I'm going to have it mocked up tomorrow. I'll try to get pics posted.

Aprrecaite you looking out on the measurements. I'm going to take a shot at it this week.

I have an s14 but there almost the same , I just mounted my battery in the trunk and used a grinder with a cut off wheel, its not a perfect circle but once my ic piping is all welded up im just gunna take some sheet metal cut out a perfect circle for it and weld it in

Definitely hole saw, take it slow with medium to hard pressure. Stop frequently to let it cool off, don't overheat the hole saw.

Buy a 4" (or bigger) hole saw so you have a little margin for error.
I used a 3" saw with my GReddy kit and I hated life.
Paint then grommet afterward.
