I recently bought this s13 exhaust camshaft off someone here on zilvia but when I received it, it had some surface rust and darker spots on the lobes? How can I get rid of the rust without damaging the lobes? It's also missing the cam sprocket, so is it possible just to use my s14 one? I'm trying to do the hot cam swap mod so I'm trying to put this cam into my s14 ka on the intake side.

just steel wool the rust off it should be fine. The cam gear should be the same.

Maybe like 440 grit and finish with like 720? Haha.

yeah try steel wool, but it looks like there is some pitting and if there is then all those are good for is the garbage, if you can't get it smooth without a TON of work then don't even try its a waste of time. so try to clean them up and check to see if there easy to get smooth.

i use red scotch brite. spray some wd40 on the scotch brite and clean the lobes by wrapping them with the scotch brite and twist the cam back and forth. a little bit of pitting won`t hurt anything. it will work fine. as long as they are not big gouges.
