An exhaust cutout basically turns into open downpipe/cat once you open it, and once the cutout is closed your exhaust flows through your regular catback.

I have a quicktime performace e-cutout on my s14's ka. It runs fine with it open. When its open I have it routed to a 3 inch sidepipe (which is loud as hell) that runs thru my notched frame rail, and when its closed it goes through my stock cat back.

It worked great with the cops in cali but I dont have to worry about them up here in Alaska haha

this doesnt look like its got anything past it tho. if its closed its closing the entire exhaust system. theres no stock piping after it for when its closed.

basically would i be able to bolt this to my megan test pipe and itll be okay? or is that restricting exhaust when its closed

It says right in the video description that he spliced it into the exhaust system and that he runs stock exhaust, and an open downpipe....

of course it would restrict exhaust flow when its closed, thats the point. To keep it quiet, you couldnt run it open like it got in the video. Its not for performance, otherwise he would just keep the open pipe... open? there would be no need for the valve!

I am sorry if there was more to this thread than I am seeing. I am really drunk and I hope I make more sense in the morning.

Cheers to long nights in the garage!

There is stock piping, you just can't see it. You can see the flange to the left of the cutout. The description in the video explains it.

Cars need exhausts. You can't just run a cutout closed with nowhere for the gas to go.

This is how you run a cutout:

^^^^^ perfect example of a cutout done in sleeper style u can splice it off ur downpipe also using the same method and can add some piping to come out the side or wherever u want it to dump
