I was wondering what people's experience has been with the knockoff body kits that are in the $400 range. Here's one link for a duraflex V speed kit from Extreme Dimensions.
Extreme Dimensions V-Speed 2 Body Kit - FULL KIT for 95-98 Nissan 240sx at Andy's Auto Sport (http://www.andysautosport.com/nissan/1995_1998_240sx/exterior/body_kits/extreme%20dimensions/extr00132278.html)
I'm looking for recent experience since I'm sure manufacturers change all the time.
I recently bought a $100 bumper off of ebay for a crown vic and it was fine for what I was using it for.
On my S14, I want it to fit well, but it is a track car and don't know if I want to spend an extra $500 for a Japanese sourced kit that is only marginally better quality.
Thanks.

Probably thinner/weaker glass. Also fitment will be hit or miss.

Are you installing it or having a body shop do it? Most good body shops can fix poor fitting kits, but yes they do come with cheap/thin glass. Basically you get what you pay for...

Either take the time and save up for quality parts, or rock what you have and put a lip on it. In my opinion, OEM + a lip looks better than any cheap kit ever could. And it's the least expensive route.

it really depends on the model of the ED body kit you are getting. The new designs that they made have less waves in them and seem to be better quality. I bought a full B-sport blister kit from them and it fit way better than my Dmax fenders, but i have also bought an ED v-speed s13 rear bumper that fit like shit. Also my friend bought front and rear fenders for his hachi that fit really bad too, the front finders were twisted and didn't line up at all.
I think the V-speed for s13 is going to fit like garbage because its an older mold, but their newer molds/models should be decent quality. You could try the s14 model but i have had no experience with s14 ED kits.
Also if you want to get ED for cheap and don't mind driving to OR, Speed concept can get it for same price on ED website plus little shipping.

49 year olds shouldn't put on shitty fitting, cheap body kits on their cars.
i'd personally save up a bit more and get V-S

i cheaped out and got that same kit from andys about two years ago, fitment was ok, the front side markers dont fit in the holes; i couldnt make them fit so i just shaved them off. and the side skirts are usually warped and mine were a little too short. but its pretty durable. so all in all if its for a track car then get it, if its for a daily save up a little green.
heres what it looks like installed:

Duraflex is a decent brand for its price. They are a pretty big company so when things go wrong, they fix their molds most of the time. VSpeed kit is very popular so they should have the fitment down on point. Also duraflex is one of the very few companies that add poly resin into their kits so the fiberglass is a bit more flexible to work with. If you got extra money you should go with their Couture kit, its literally unbreakable.
Ive done handful of kits from Duraflex and its all pretty much just down to the fitting on and drilling out the holes of the kit, also has alot to do with whos doing the job as auto repair shop dont know jack about fiberglass kit. Also alot of people dont take into factor that all cars warp and especially with the age of all 240s, its body is most likely not the same as it did when it left the production line.

In my experience which is pretty extensive as I've been building cars since 1995, the cheaper kits are decent for track cars but, definitely not well fitted. ED, VIS, VFiber have all ben garbage fitment in my past, Duraflex a lil better but not much.
ABS Dynamics product fits great, got a supermade kit from Intensepower and had ZERO complaints. Rear Overfenders have notoriously fit poopy regardless, fronts I have only good experience with Origin-Lab, Version Select and SuperMade front fenders. Origin-Lab and Version kits fit great for the price as well IMO, nice and thick FRP with a great gel coat.
