Hello,

Wrote a thread a few weeks back w/ no response but I'm back to try again.

I have a 1991 240sx

Its been a few months but wanted to confirm ~ the check engine light (CEL) does "light up" on startup, right?

Its not happening for me. I get everything on the right hand side (brake, seatbelt, etc but not the CEL) when starting the car.

Pulling the code gives me the good ol "55". So can anyone comment on what I might need to do to get it functioning again?

Also -- I know the CEL works. While driving on the freeway (2500-3000 rpms), the CEL will turn on. It then turns itself off minutes later (between 5-20 minutes) as I continue driving so when I pull the code when I get home, nothing.

Any ideas on what I should look at first?

Thanks in advance!

Loose bulb maybe? It is suppose to turn on at start up though.

Does the CEL light up when checking the codes? Meaning, does it blink along side the ECU light when checking codes?

Thanks for the response.

Yes, when I pull the codes, the CEL does light up. I originally thought the light/bulb was bad but it lights up while driving on the freeway sometimes and acts "normally" when I pull the code.

Though what makes it weird is what then I pulled the code ~ I could only read it from the CEL, I couldn't see the ECU light up at all whatsoever like I've done in the past.

Keep it coming, thanks!

Sorry, can't help. Really wouldn't know what the issue could be.
