I have s13 wit a 95 s14 swap, I just rplace the hhead gasket and now i ddon't have compression on the 1st n 3rd cylinder!? I re-did cam tiiming and there set at 12 n 2
1st reads 30 psi
2Nd reads 160 psi
3rd reads 30 psi
4th reads 160 psi
It was running before n it won't start (obviously)
The crazy part is when I took the valve cover off the cams was switched , tried to switch to factory and the cans never lined up , Idk wat tto do now any words of wisdom
1) assume everything you touched is wrong.
2) use the fsm to guide you through all the steps you need to take to undo whatever it is you did do.

your timing is probably off

When replacing head gasket I would replace head bolts and other fasteners cause they tend to stretch. Also remove any residues before placing the head gasket. Also when disassembly you must wait for the motor to cool off at least a day due to thermal growth. Surface of the block must be clean and checked with a straightedge. Aluminum might not be much at warped but the engine has other materials other than aluminum. Some preps that I do when replacing ahead gasket........ Sorry it's not in order. Lol

did you machine the head before assembly?

why did you replace the headgasket in the 1st place?
even if the timing was off it would still build pressure for a compression test. unless you bent up the valves slightly...
-check the valves do a leak down test
-if you have ring/piston damage, you can do another compression test with a cap full of oil in the cylinders in questions. if the compression jumps up, you know where the problem is...

I used the same headbolts and a used a straightedge, I really did cams cus the first time I got None across the board cuz I was 180 out

You need to print the entire fsm and start over. And use new fastners! The fsm will tell you exactly what to do

if it was 180 degrees off, i really hope you didnt try cranking it. otherwise you bent your valves

The thing that got me is the the cams were switch n that's the only way i can get compression
No I know tdc come twice this is the first time I opened this car up since i got it, never had this problem before, but this oone is a doozy n now Idk wat to do now, to get it on tdc where none of the valve will be open the cams will sit at 11 n 7!? I don't have a GSM but got some bullshit chiltons an some info is garbage

So you didnt machine the head?
Should have, Anytime you remove the head after being heat cycled many times. when being removed (even if FSM procedures are followed) Its gonna Warp.
Def sounds like the head is warped.

why did you replace the gasket?

Mechanical timing most likely was off and maybe even jumped a tooth on the cam gear. You probably bent some valves in the process.

id say bent valves too.

I'm thinking bent valves n no I didn't machine head I should, I messed with timing more n now i have strong ass ccompression on 2 n 4 n 160 on 3 n still 30 on the 1st cylinder

Think about this for a second, If you remove the timing chain (closed the valves) from an engine and do a compression check you'll still get compression... timing wouldn't effect it... correct?
Its possible the valves are bent due to the timing being off but adjusting the timing at this point in time won't show anything, damage is already done.. usually if a valve is bent there will be 0 compression, as compression would leak out.. since your getting 30psi in the cylinder the problem might be elsewhere.
why did you change the headgasket?
do another compression check.. WET, put a full cap of oil in each cylinder
