So all my illumination bulbs work, blower motor works on all speeds, and I can move the temperature blend door with control unit, but I can't change the mode door position and none of the mode leds light up . It seems to be stuck in the vent position.
I've made sure I had power to the mode door actuator. I followed the pinpoint test in the shop manual (starting with ha 72. ) I even replaced mode door actuator and the control unit just for shitz and giggles.
All of my fuses are good. The mode door moves fine, so I know something isn't blocking the door
Anyone else have issues with their climate control?
Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance,
Tim

it sounds to me like you have a problem with the particular section in your climate controller, i have never heard of it happening in an s13 but my pathfinder which has basically the same type of climate control had a section go dark and all the buttons to change the vent directions stopped working, try changing the head unit i bet it will work, i even have one i could ship to you pretty cheap if you cant find one locally

I had the same problem. My buttons were kinda gummed up so I removed the whole unit and removed the electronics. The soaked the whole thing in warm water and cleaned with just a household degreaser. Reinstalled every thing and it worked perfect. There's a thread on installing led illumination and it showed how to split it apart w/o fuckin it up... Hope this helps

Thanks guys.
I tried a known good head unit just cause I had one lying around. It didn't change anything. I even tried a new mode door actuator, and still no change. I can manually change the mode door with the actuator off, so I know the actual door is ok.
I was thinking about just leaving the actuator off and moving it manually, but I'm trying to stay away from making this thing a missile.
I'll let you know if I find out anything else
Thanks again,
Tim

It was like 30 or 40 dollars?
If you wanna test your motor:
take it off the driver's side of the heater box
removed the cover (I think there's like 4 or 5 tabs)
apply 12 volts to the pins that go to the motor and see if it moves.
Both motors I had moved when I tested them.
Tonight I'm gonna check wiring to from the control head to the motor
I'll let you know what happens

I did! I didn't have power from the control head to the motor. So i checked for power from the fuse to the control head and I had nothing. I spent more time tracing wires and found the wire from my fuse (I can't remember what color it was,) was cut, probably when my alarm was installed. So I fixed that wire and magically my climate control was fully operational!!
