I decided to go KA-T, I could not however find any information on the SAFC II other than opinions on whether or not it is crap. Now the question I really have. Could this be used for a safe, and permanent, tune? Or, do I have to only use it as a temporary placeholder on my path toward RS Enthalpy/Nistune? Also, if I do use it until I can get a ROM tune, is it safe to leave on after the tune if I re-adjust the settings and such?

Only thing a SAFC is good for would be fine tuning a rom tune. If you're using it on top of a stock ECU/tune, you're asking for trouble considering how limited it is. If you get a SAFC first, get that "tuned" (and I use that term loosely), then later get a rom tuned ECU, you'd have to reset your SAFC since everything will be different. Its a reason its a piggy back, it tweaks whatever fuel map is in your ECU. But thats all it can really do, just tweak the fuel map. It doesnt do anything for timing and thats what gets people in trouble/blow engines.

Ah. It seems that I may have misinterpreted what I have been reading then. I've seen some stuff stating and I will quote "unless you have a piggyback or stand alone system like Greddy E-Manage, A'pexi SAFC, or Enthalpy etc.". I'm not sure if they were wrong or I am but I took that to mean the SAFC would be sufficient. Now if I get an Enthalpy ecu and then use the apexi would it be safe to drive without a BOV? Haven't gotten one yet and I am not sure how quickly I can dammage the turbo. Also from my understanding you can tune it without incorporating a BOV, would that be taken care of by the SAFC or would I need a retune? I know I sound like an idiot and my questions may not be well worded or thought out so I can clarify if needed.

Now that I can, let me try this in a more educated manner. (I was doing it from my phone earlier and now I can actually sit and think it out.)
1) I was under the assumption that the SAFC would be sufficient as a "tune" based off of SOME other posts I have seen elsewhere. I may have read wrong or they may be wrong but that is what i got from it.
2) I do not have a BOV set up yet as I have not yet purchased one. Can RS Enthalpy make a safe tune for running a car without a BOV, and make it safe to drive, without damaging the turbo? If so, then when I do install a BOV, will I have to worry about a re-tune or can the A'pexi pick up the slack?
3) Kind of unrelated but, when I do install a BOV, will I HAVE to re-circulate it or will the SAFC make up for the air loss with an atmospheric vent?

You need to have a rom tune done. An safc only tunes fuel. It does not mess with timing....which is very important.
Do it right. Get an ecu tune and then if you want to tweak from there then put on the safc.

Seems like you're trying to do something else with a SAFC. SAFC has an option where it will compensate for an open air BOV, basically keep the engine from choking itself out with extra fuel. You don't need a SAFC if thats all you're trying to do. Just getting a BOV that doesnt dump too much air does wonders. I've used HKS SSQ and Greddy Type R, didn't have bogging issues.
BOV has nothing to do with a rom tune. Simple explanation: Enthalpy will tune for injector sizing and MAF hardware wise. The fuel map and timing map will be changed depending on the turbo you have. The issue is no 2 cars are the same. So you can't make the same tune and expect it work on 2 cars even tho they have the same setup. They can tune it, but itll be conservative, meaning it will be rich. The tuner has no clue what the AFRs are and thats when a SAFC comes into play. You can use a SAFC to fine tune the fuel map and lean out the map a bit so the tune will be perfect for your car.
The best way to take advantage of a rom tune is to have them tune the car with it. Since you're in Tampa, you have the luxury of seeing if Enthalpy can dyno tune your car instead of just getting a mail in rom tune. It'll cost more but itll be done right.
