I am in talks to buy a rebuild bottom end to mate my rebuilt cylinder head, and I have a few questions. Since the block and the head were not machined together, what information do i need to know before I assemble the two? Basically if you guys can just throw everything out there i should know before i do this. I will do the research i just keep getting lost in my recent searches and not getting anything out of it really.

Personally I'd have them machined together if they'd still be in tolerance.
Maybe someone else can recommend a HG that'd work best if you just combine them.

As long as the block was decked with the oil pump cover on it and the head has a fresh deck you'll be fine. There is a specific amount that can be removed without having to replace either. Just check for flatness with an extremely straight edge, both head and deck. Only worries are that the oil pump wasn't done with the block and protrudes higher than the deck of the block and removing too much material. Too much material can cause timing issues. Hope this helps....
