View Full Version : Stripped interior... creative ways to plug holes? (prevent carbon monoxide poisoning)

I have a stripped out s14 and there's a bunch of holes here and there throughout the interior (drain holes, and other stuff that's usually covered/hidden by interior bits, etc...
Anyone have good advice on how to fill those holes (other than welding) so the fumes don't kill me?

lay fiberglass over them (the wrong way to do it) and smooth with body filler

pull your skirt up and your tampon out?
If your exhaust is properly routed to the back of the car and it doesnt leak then how could you get carbon monoxide poisoning? you think carpet has stopped it all those years? lol
Fix your exhaust leaks and be done with it.

no exhaust leaks, but when you're sitting in a car that's running for a while and the interior is full of holes and you're not moving (lots of scenarios like traffic for example) , a lot of that exhaust creeps in to the car.

youre over exaggerating
sitting at a traffic stop won't be anywhere near enough time to let exhaust fumes kill you, its barely enough time for them to even get you nauseous or light headed

Well if its anything like My past 2 S13's....I have no exhaust leaks but if I crack my Window/'s the smallest Bit...Its like the Exhaust Is re-routed back into My car from the rear. Only when the windows are cracked/opened.
Its Almost like the rear end of these cars Creates a Low spot and it Circles back forward.
just like the infamous "S13 Dirty rear Bumper top 24/7".Constantly Kicks up stuff.
Windows up and My on car its perfect for some reason.
Was Like this on my other S13.
I do have carpet and pretty much Full interior w/ back seats (EXCEPT cargo Area) Now and its the same.same when I was gutted in the back.
Just replaced the $130 rear hatch seal and both front door seals to see.still the same.

Plugs like others have said, and re-use the old hardware that was used to bolt in the seat belts etc.

well, If I am sitting at a light and have my windows open because it is a beautiful day out, then I should die from the car in front of me according to your logic. Good luck on adding weight to the car that you stripped to lose weight

for small hardware holes i always use small flush head allen screws and red locktight them in looks clean. and other holes can be taped on the bottom then filled with jb weld or a fiberglass body filler or 3m makes a killer adhesive and u can cut out small sheet metal plugs and glue them into place.

when my dash caught on fire last year i had to strip the interior completely. i used second skin auto insulation to cover the firewall, floor and such. it covered all the misc holes and i just poked out the ones i needed

Um, I have had no rear interior for a while and my exhaust currently has a small leak right at the downpipe. I have sat in traffic for very long periods of time and never got light headed. Its fine. I don't see how this is even a problem.

i got this same exact problem. it's annoying really is what it boils down to. i tried to plug up every single area where i thought might pose a problem. i even extended my exhaust muffler a bit more out to see if that helped any. and i have no exhaust leaks. minor if any.
I think your right. The gas is drafted back in to the car somehow when the windows are open.
