Like the title says,
I'm looking for a legit shipping company that can ship a car from Hawaii to California, My brother is in the military and the military shipped it out there for him, when he was living out there he bought a new car and has no use for the 240 anymore, so he wants to ship it back over here for me to use. The only problem is the military will only ship one car for him which definitely is going to be his new car, and the shipping company that I found needs a valid registration, he hasn't registered the 240 because it didn't pass safety inspection in Hawaii because of no working reverse lights, no side markers, or water squirters for the windshield.
If anyone know knows I'd really appreciate it,
Thanks:snoop:

just going out on a limb here, but can you pay the military to ship a 2nd car?

No, military will only ship one car and only will do so when you are heading there or leaving from there.
Back to the OP, where was the car registered before he got to Hawaii? Just because he's in Hawaii, didnt mean he had to register it there. He can register it back to where you're at. Will probably just need a copy of his military orders, ID, Drivers license and mailing address for the most part.
Worst case scenario, he can register it in TN...shoot me a PM if he's willing to do that and I can give you the steps.
Also, my old roomate is stationed in Hickam right now. He shipped 3 cars out of his own pocket that way from CA. I'll ask him what company he used.

The car was Registered in California before it was shipped to Hawaii, but the thing is I don't even know whats up with his registration, when he got stationed in Hawaii his registration for his car expired and the mail came in sayin to pay for his registration when the car wasn't even in California, then it eventualy went to collection, my younger brother called the collection agency and explained to them it's not even in california anymore. he just ordered a wiring harness and such to fix all the problems reverse lights etc, i sent him a windshield wiper reservoir to fix the squirter problem, but he would rather not fix it, if that's the worst case scenario then I'm sure he's willing to do it, if there are no shipping company's that ship without registration. it's a headache, I wonder if I can go to the DMV and ask whats up with the registration on the car and if I can register it as non-op just so he can ship it back.
thanks.

Yah, he'd probably have to clear it with CA DMV. His best bet would probably contact them and let them know that the car is out of the state and it has been inop for a while. See if they'd give him a break since he's military and out of state. If they do, see if he can register it again in CA. Atleast CA won't have to make him smog it...
He probably won't be able to register it anywhere else since CA probably got something in the system saying he owes them money. Considering he's in Hawaii, fuck trying to register it there. Recon and safety inspection out there from I've been told is almost as retarded as CA.

Yeah I'm asking for his license plate and last 5 vin numbers so I can check with the DMV and see where his registration stands, then I can figure it out from there if I can throw it in non-op for him or not, I heard safety inspection is pretty cool, with its up and downs, drive around with swaps as long as it meets there safety haha.
I'm not sure 100% on what happened with his registration and what the collection agency did since my brother talked to them about all that stuff, but hopefully it's all good. I'd probably end up being fucked in the ass if he has a shit load of back fees though which is gonna suck, but it's a lot better then buying another 240 for full price thats for sure.
