View Full Version : Has a faulty master or slave cylinder ever caused clutch pedal 2 be difficult 2 press
I usually don't use a "2" for the word to but it wouldn't all fit in the title.
Anyways I have a 13 with an SR, I just bought. It is super hard to press the clutch pedal. It always come back but its just very hard to press. Also, it just barely disengages the clutch. I know I can adjust the rod coming out of the master but that isn't the cause of the problem.
I took a short video of the motion of the master was. It seems like the travel is not enough. I figure when a master or slave brake if anything you get less resistance in the clutch pedal.
Any insightful information is appreciated.

check and see if the last owner didn't bypass the clutch dampener box. doing that will stiffen the clutch

Unless it's a custom one like the one I had once, it was a custom triple strapped pressure plate pucked disc, broke my pedal multiple times, then I ended up switching to a OS GIKEN twin disc, which btw felt awesome

the pedal was welded back together so i swapped it out with the another pedal.

The Damper box is right by the clutch slave, teathered to the frame on the passenger side

First thing you should do is pull the trans and find out what you have in there for a clutch / pressure plate... no amount of speculating is going to help without that knowledge...

im surprised no one noticed the threaded rod on the slave cylinder and the fluid associated with it.

Had the same issue. Bought the nismo secondary clutch cylinder. Problem fixed.
Here's the thread.

ya why is the rod threaded.
Darren: i know what you mean but my question was if anyone has ever experienced a hard pedal due to master or slave. but thanks for advise, I do want to take it remove trans was just hoping i wouldn't have to :(
starplaynumm: thanks man, ill look into those if all else seems ok

Just a thought, try to get a mirror or camera in the clutch fork hole and see what brand it is, and see if you can match it to something. I've used that trick before and was able to figure out what clutch someone was using, but i'm in the same boat as you and I can tell you right now it's your clutch not the slave.
