sr20det suddenly wont start (still cranks)

literally drove it today to get some lunch.. drove home and washed it now it will not turn over... the motor cranks all day.

when it first did this the ECU threw code for MAF and Knock sensor (been throwing knock sensor for weeks bc sensor is bad) so i then followed the MAF wiring and found nothing wrong with it.. then pulled battery let it sit for alittle then went to start again. same thing but now ecu is saying code 55... but wont start...

i unplugged the MAF and turned it over, nothing but the ECU still only showed code 55, idk if that means anything.

ive traced wiring everywhere no breaks nothing wrong. car has been in perfect running condition for months.

getting a volt meter tmro and going to attack it.

(fuel pump is priming and i have fuel pressure)

I say check the ground wire, the spark plugs/wires, the fuel injectors/pump, i really don't no cause i don't own a 240 yet so just taking the more easier approach

Okay there is spark. And fuel there is too. I pulled the rail and turned it over. It was really really faint of sprays. Like barely could see it or feel it...


Grounds are all good...

Would a dying fuel pump still prime?
Btw: spark plugs are white on the tip

A dying pump will still prime. When my pump failed I had a hell of a time figuring out why the car wouldnt start since I could still hear the pump priming. It might still provide fuel, but just a greatly reduced amount (not enough to start the car).

I started to start car again after letting it sit over night. It seems to get like one fire then nothing and just cranking all day. Fuel pump sounds good though but idk

sr swaps commonly have a shitty signal wire connection.

i bet it either just fell off when u hit a bump in the road,. or is barely on

when you washed your car did you wash the engine bay as well?

If the CAS got wet then it wont start until its completely dry, but you say you have spark so that cant be the case. Check for loose ground connections. Do you have a spare ecu to try out? It also sounds like your cylinders may be flooded.

haha same shit happened to me. ground wire on my damn started was barely hanging on. i put some grease and cliped it on well. car started up instantly.

its not flooding is it?
when i first got mine the injectors leaked and the car would start like once a day.. maybe unplug injectors and crank it? if its flooding it will start and burn off whats in there.

also you can try runnning it on starter fluid, just keep a consistiant spray into the TB or some vaccume hose and it should run as long as you spray if fuel is your issue

make sure you got 12v on injector clip, cas clip and coil pack clip. ( assuming your engine is properly timed)

i just went through with this problem. the solder on white wire from the cas clip broke off. ( i replaced my cas clip from my ka because it was destroyed from my accident) and that made my sr wont start because there is no fuel and spark.

try spraying starting fluid and see if it starts if it does you might need a new pump or try to see if any plugs are lose even the ecu plug.

I got it running. All I did was spray starter fluid. It started right now. And now I've never had the problem again. Lol. NO IDEA what it was. Pump is a walbro too

Sounds like.your motor was flooded if it happens again pull you fuel pump fuse and crank until it starts and dies. Than put the fuse back in start it leave it started for a couple minutes and you'll be good.

Hmmmm thats weird. I've been told
It was the opposite. I wasnt gaining enough fuel pressure when cranking. But I see what you mean too.
