This might be a dead end thread but I think im on to something.
I've been reading up on the QR25DE Engine only because I realized the (2009-present)Suzuki Equator has the engine in rwd with a 5-speed transmission. It has been compared alot to the sr20 but the only similarity I see is fact that it's over-squared like the sr and it's lighter/shorter than the sr but of course because of the 2.5L displacement it's closely related to the ka24 engine

QR25DE KA24DE
(2488cc) (2389cc)
Bore x Stroke: 89.0 x 100mm Bore x Stroke: 89.0 x 96mm
cp: 9.5:1 cp: 9.5:1 (year 94-98)
[email protected] [email protected] rpm
180ft [email protected] 160ft [email protected]

So knowing that I know im going to swap this in future when I get the chance
but I also think studying this engine is the key to getting the ka24de to the elusive 200 whp mark since the SE-R spec V has [email protected] 180ft [email protected]

So what do you guys think?::2f2f:

Sorry guys I had the both of the engine stats separated when I typed it but for some reason it bunched them up together.

Other than the SR I really don't think there will ever be a popular 4cyl swap in the S chassis' again, the community has moved on to V8's and V6's.

Hmmm, there's quite the aftermarket support for the qr25de. I think the things creating the most problem is finding a rwd transmission, drive accessories (alt/p.s./ac) and intake/exhaust manifolds that are pointing correct.

I wouldn't be too concerned over the accessories and manifolds, could be fabricated with proper tools and thought, along with mounts.

I would suggest a trans adapter to bolt a common trans to the block, I would go after making a ka trans adapter since they're easily found and fit the s chassis with pre existing mounts, driveshafts, shifters, etc. I also might look into like the z32 trans since it will hold a higher power level.

Just a few thoughts, this peaks my curiosity haha.

The Qr has more problems than the KA when making any kind of power. Have you seen the rods in those things? Tiny.

It's not worth it.

I do agree with @PoorMans180SX that the Qr has more problems than the KA when making any kind of power.

may i ask WHY you might want to be swapping this?? Just because? something new? Everything is possible with money and time.

A couple buddies of mine had QR25DE Sentra Spec-V's. They put t3/t4's on them and were pretty quick. They were temperamental though. We have a couple banana rods from the motors.

If you were to build it and doe it right it would be pretty good. They are very light motors.

It seems like the newer 2007+ QR25's are a lot better engines.

However, unless you're getting this stuff dirt cheap, you might as well do a VG30E, VQ30, or VQ35 swap. All will perform better and be similar in price range.

It would be nice to have a newer Nissan 4 cyl in an S13 just for reliability reasons. But unless you do it right and make it emissions legal (for us CA guys anyway), you might as well drop a different illegal engine in there.

The reason for swapping it is because it's essentially a newer version of the ka24de....except it lighter than a sr.

If you wanna go all crazy and do a different 4 cylinder motor , go with a 3gste. You will have the same problems to deal with such as it being a fwd or awd motor but its a PROVEN motor. 255bhp stock and will handle a shit load of power. I remember seeing one in a s15 somewhere on the interwebs.

y not drop in a VQ35 more power easier swap and more potential or drop in a f20c or 4g64 with a mighty max trans

That may be true in a sense but when your talking v6's and v8's...in my perspective thats for people in a higher tax bracket who have the the extra money to pay for things like that unless they get some uncommon sweet deal to do so.

Oh dont worry the vq is one of those engines on my swap list but while I have one engine in the car I just plan to be tinkering around with other motors.
