View Full Version : You won't believe this - 479k original miles and still runs perfect!

ok, so i know what you're thinkin... "Yeah Right" well... i just bought a '90 maroon hatch with 479k miles on the ORIGINAL, MATCHING NUMBERS, Motor and Trans! You're probably thinking I'm nuts, or why I'd even touch this thing...

I picked it up from a guy here in Sacramento for 1300.. He said it was bought from an old guy who was the original owner.

Now you would think this s13 would be totally messed up... But, infact, no...
sunroof works, electric windows work, original teardrop wheels, original pignose bumper AND lip! mint condition! ... and no, the lip is not for sale! :bigok:

This beautiful hatch now has an organ donor and is receiving an s13 blacktop swap!

nonetheless, the original ka is still running amazingly...

hm, well thanks for the hopeful comment :mepoke:

but, you would literally need to see this to believe it. this thing is nicer than most 240s with 200k... rides like a dream. no road noise, struts are good. CV boots arent ripped, shifts smooth, etc..

I'm pretty confident this is one the highest mile s chassis in CA.... lol.. seriously. If not, the HIGHEST miles s chassis...

very true, and thank you. thats the beauty in this really... this car is quite literally 100% complete, including the bottom of the engine's splash guard!

Not a single person on here can deny the fact that S13's are usually gutted, parted out, or missing half of their stuff. This thing doesn't even have the lazy eye mod, lol....

I'm a believer. In 2004 I sold my 92 hardbody single cammer with 367k to some gardener who still drives the thing! Replaced one turn signal switch, one clutch, 2 batteries, one alt, and one water pump.

If you don't fuck with em, they live forEVER....

Now I am sad. :(

That's great. You have a piece of history becouse I have never herd less seen a highly modified chassis go that many miles stock and still drivable and look as good as yours does. You should really consider passing the half a mill mark .

Thank you very much, and I really am truly enthused to be cruising in this thing. I baby the living hell out of it. Except tonight I went for a.. "sprintful" cruise down I-5 here in sac. Good lord, i love 240s, lol!

Also -- I contacted Nissan Corp. Office and told them how many miles are on my 240. I waiting to hear back from them. I'll post what they tell me on here.

my 93 coupe had 279000 miles on it. i drove it for 4k of those miles had timing chain slap but other then that never had ANY issues with it. beat the piss out of it on the track bouncin off the rev limiter sideways about 3 times a week. eventually i totaled the car while trying to attempt a wall grind. pulled the motor out sold it..it still runs daily in my buddys car with about 300000 on it now. never rebuilt. doesnt smoke at all. i love ka motors. i might buy an altima now as a family car just because of the ka in it.

that sounds like bullshit, lol. sorry just saying.... lol the speedo works 100%. doesn't wiggle or jump, etc. therefore odometer is working fine. ... also if the odometer wasn't working correctly, it would only mean there are even more miles that what's recorded. which would be awesom! but yea... very, extremely, highly doubtful.

This is why I buy Japanese cars. They last forever if you take care of them.

My previous car was a 1994 Nissan Hardbody. My father bought it new from ABC Nissan in Phoenix Arizona in late 1993. I put a total of 223,000 miles on it. During that time I replaced one clutch and 2 alternators. The factory AC was still blowing ice cold and never even had a recharge. The truck was sold with around 350,000 miles in 2004.

In 2004 is when I bought my Pontiac Vibe new at Peoria Pontiac GMC. I'm not sure if many people know this but despite bieng badged as a Pontiac, it's actually a TOYOTA MATRIX and is sold as a Toyota Voltz overseas which is why I bought it. I was able to get a big rebate on it since GM was selling it as well.

Anyway, 163,000 miles later and I have not made one .. single.. repair to this car that I have owned since new. I maintain it and it treats me well and not a single thing has broken despite 7 years in brutal Arizona heat.

You must be new if you think they don't. I beat the piss out of my 250K one, ran no T Stat for over a year, barely any oil, timing chain chatter, it still runs to this day in my buddies Datsun truck. Easily at the 275 mark by now.

Ive noticed these motors can take a beating and keep on going; even with ticks/knocks/smoking... Either way, when you get it to 500k (if you havent modded it yet) you should send a letter to Nissan. Its a long shot, but they might pay you to use your car in a commercial or something. Pretty rare to see an original car that old with 200k in good condition, let alone 500k.

I think I remember a while back an owner of a million mile Honda either got paid to be in a commercial, or they gave him a new car or something... I remember seeing it on yahoo news one night at work....vaguely

ran no T Stat for over a year

What's a thermostat? :ddog:
My coupe hasn't run one for like 5 years and it still ran great with around 28 mpg when I sold it last week.

just love working oon the red Nissans :-D

That clean of a high mileage pignose, I would left it stock for a daily driver. Buy a battered 240 with a straight body to modify.

god these things have gotten fucking expensive. 1300 for a 21 year old car with 479k miles and it might as well have been a shell since your going to swap the motors anyway.

i bought my 93se 7 years ago with 110k on the car (everything original) and i paid 600 for it.

First of all, to all the haters that say that i fucked with the odometer, it's photo shopped, or that it's fake. - Fuck you. Seriously.

On the lighter side, for those who are actually interested in this story...

I contacted Nissan of N. America and they basically said "Congratulations, We're happy that you're happy." lol. I don't think they're very interested.
Here's the Email -
