Hello everyone!!!

What's up guys my name's Victor and I'm a new member here at Zilvia.net. I currently own a Bone stock 2008 Honda civic si sedan that's starving from torque. Modding my Honda would be kinda pointless since this car will still lack torque. The only mod worth investing on would be a turbo kit but with the compression being a little high, the engine would be in a much higher risk of detonating. So a couple of days ago a friend of mine (User: Fiascoelement) who owns a S13 coupe with a redtop SR with a s15 tranny let me test drive his car. Man was it awesome!!! Good power and the car felt very light. Ive always been a fan of 240s but after actually driving one made me love them even more. I've been tinkering with the idea of actually selling my civic si and get me a 240 myself but don't know if it's a good idea. My civic si are being sold for roughly around 13k right now and with that amount I can invest on a decent 240 and put many mods.

Do you folks think it would be a good idea for me to do something like that? The Honda is already been paid out so I don't have no debts whatsoever.(Thank God)

As long as you are ok with going from a new car, which has minimal issues and is reliable, to an old car, which is going to have things breaking all the time, go for it. S13's are around 20 years old so expect for things to happen. If you do sell your civic for an s13, make sure you keep a few grand in the bank for emergency car funds.

Yeah that's true but as long as everything is done right without cutting. Orners there shouldn't be too many issues. Honda are also a problem because of thieves are always trying to steal them. There has been two attempts of stealing my car but they have been unsuccessful.

DO IT!!!! sell it for 12.5k and buy a decent s13 with an sr20 coilovers and some goodies for 5-7k and with the rest of the money fix any problems it might have.. just cause its an old car doesnt mean it going to break down it all on how you take care of it

In my opinion an s13 with good shit in it will attract way more attention then a newer civc.

Honesty I'm not the type thats always beating my car all the time. I understand that 240 break down a lot and thats if you push it too much. I'm willing to put up with the head ache as I know a couple of buddies that work on nissans. They are also more fun to drive unlike most of these new cars where computers are taking over and making driving less fun and getting heavier and slower lol

Exactly!!! A 240 with some mods will def be a better looking and driving experience. I'm taking my time to do things right as well so no cutting corners.
Plus you can't go wrong with Going boost especially coming from a torque starved civic hahaha. Right now I'm searching the treads to learn about these cars. I only know the general stuff but will get into more detail.

an sr20 with a t28, 550cc injectors a good tune and maybe some cams can make over 280whp and will feel way faster than the civic

you are crazy. as much as i love 240's i would NEVER go from an 08 si to an s13. you should either a) boost the honda, i know plenty of people with boosted k20's making great power with stock internals. or b) save up and buy an s13 for a project car.

i think you should save boost, mugen kit, pimp wheels call it a day.

I've done some research on boosting my Si a while back. To get a reliable kit (Full race) plus installing and tune, you end up spending around 8-10k and you could only boost around 420whp safety and even then its still a risk due to compression. On top of that with the cramped engine bay that these civics have you would have to put heat wraps everywhere to prevent from any wire from melting or getting damaged. The kit alone will cost you around 5500. Its always safer to boost a car that was meant to be boosted in the first place because there will be less tinkering to do. I know it somewhat of a downgrade due to the age of car but when you mod it they will run just as good as a new car if the right parts are bought.

You dont think 420whp is a fair amount of power? How much do you think you will be able to make with an sr w/ stock internals. With good tuning i don't see why there would be detonation. Hondata. i would say that stock motor could easily handle 10+ psi w/ a decent sized turbo w/o flinching and i think you should do a little more research on boosting your honda. i boosted my d17 in my 2001 civic for under 3K by piecing it together, and ive been running 11psi for years on that motor which is "not meant for boost". granted the k20 is different but parts are much more available.

420whp is def enough power, maybe too much for daily driving to be honest. I agree that piecing together a turbo kit is alot cheaper than buying it as a whole. But what about reliability? You think it would be any good?

why dont you keep your civic as your daily, save up some money or wait till you get your income tax then go buy a 240 and mod it yourself to the way you like. as stated above as much as i like 240 i would never downgrade to a 240 from an 08 civic. you will have a lot of problems with sr20. i remember when i first had my first sr20 swap, so much torque youn just want to push to the limit all the time lol... good ol little boys days at least for me

Iv'e been daily driving be civic for years and its never given my problems. As long as you piece you kit together with quality parts and give it a solid tune you will not have any issues. but you car will have down time. a day is all you really need to install a turbo kit but could take a couple weeks if you dont know what your doing.

Remember you can always buy an s13 as a project car, drop an sr in and call it a day. would probably end up costing the same haha.

Yeah having it as a project does seem like a good idea. Thanks guys for all the advises i will definitely think about this really hard before i do anything.

I know this is a dumb question but, if i get a 240 and have it as a project, would i have to get full insurance for it?

yes if your are going to be driving on the street. no if it is just a track car though.
