Bought an S14 a couple of months ago, it's lowered, and the harness above the driver side front wheel was rubbing on the tire. Me and my friend pulled it apart and noticed a shit ton of crappy splices done in it (like a 12 gauge spliced by a 16 gauge). We taped up all the wires reconnected everything and zip-tied it clear of the tire, but the zip-ties keep breaking off and it keeps falling on my tire and rubbing through the harness.

My speedo hasn't worked since (we cant even find the wire for it, using both the US and JPN diagrams) and fuzes keep blowing randomly. Sometimes when i turn my key just one click (for utilities) my starter starts to kick in, when i turn my car off my A/C will still be running. Even had the door open with key in alarm go off with the door shut, but went off when i opened it! Its just full of all kinds of screwed up random electrical problems.

On my way home from work today the lights on my gauge cluster (oil, service engine, etc.) and tac went all spazzy ape shit crazy and then my car just died. I was able to coast off the freeway to a gas station but now my car wont start. All electricals seem to be working fine and I can hear my starter working normally, but it wont kick over. Not sure what electrically would cause an engine to cut out once its been running fine, but any tips on what to look for would be helpful.

Also, as the harness is pissing me off quite a bit, I plan on replacing it, but don't want to buy a new harness just to have rub through again. Does anyone know of a place (relatively close so cal 92377 area) and how much it'd cost to replace that harness and have it relocated away from my evil harness munching tire of doom?

Zilvia wtb section is the place to find a replacement chassis harness. I found a jdm replacement for my 95 and a Full JDM one... Instead of trying to go through each one and fix a problem that is just too much of a hassle, get another one and then look through the "Wire tuck" thread for solutions on how to protect the harness from damage.

Best of luck to you.

You wouldn't happen to a link to said "wire tuck" thread. I'm trying to find it with the search thing but all I'm getting is a bunch of posts with peoples pictures showing off wire tucks, but no actual "how to" post.

Check out HOME OF THE 240SX USED PARTS (http://240sxusedparts.com) for used stuff. I'm not affiliated in any way with the guy who owns it but they've definitely found me some of the rarer electrical stuff. Just something to have in your back pocket.
